As we all have learned, the Nytro can be an aweful cold ride if you don't have the large or medium windshield. I don't plan on putting one on for a while, and I'm due for some new riding gear, so I thought I'd ask whats working for other nytro riders.
So what jackets and bibs are you all wearing, and for what temps? I've seen a couple of products from castle that look good, but am seeing other stuff out there too. Also, for those of you who have bibs with padded knees, is the padding enough, or do you find you need knee pads on the sled. My friend can drop from standing to his knees on a gravel drive way in his old skidoo bibs, looking for padding like that, or close anyway.
Thanks,
UD

I wear fxr backshift jacket, yamaha endurance bib, yamaha gauntlet team glove. Wear I ride it can get over -30 degrees celsius. This has been warm with no issues. Yamaha boots. No wet pants or soaked boots either.
I have Yamaha FXR bibs and jacket I am not very impressed with the zipper (use paper clips for zipper handles) quality and cold temp riding I now have the Yamaha gortex Avalanche jacket it rocks it says its a mountain jacket. has the recco locating beacon etc. It isn't flashy or anything it says Yamaha on the front like a name tag would be. and on the back. it's grey and black warmest jacket I've ever owned.

Alot of the gear yamaha sells is produced by fxr.

I bought new Klim gear this year (Tomahawk jacket and Extreme pants). Have been wearing FXR (ColdCross and Floatex) and Yamaha-FXR gear for the last 4 years. The biggest differences: 1) After wearing the Klim and FXR gear back to back on the same cold day, I was surprized at how much air got through the FXR jacket compared to the Kilm. The Klim, I would describe as wind proof, and the FXR just wind resistant. The lack of a real windshield on the Nytro means that you get hit in the chest and arms with a full blast of wind. 2) The Klim jacket I have is just a wind shell with not much insulation, so I have to get set up with several different weight fleece pullovers or jackets/liners to match the temps and exertion level I'll be riding at. 3) With the layering, you'll probably want to carry an extra layer, which can be a pain, but on the up side, you can always be comfortable and dry, even when conditions change. With the FXR and Yamaha gear, I was sometimes too hot, sometimes too cold, and layering was harder to do when the jacket already had thick insulation.
Sorry if this sounds like Klim commercial - its not meant to be. I still wear the FXR and Yamaha gear for family rides, and shorter day rides. Its just easier to grab an insuated jacket and go, versus getting the layering right when its just a short ride. But for the 150-200 miles days with "the guys", the Klim gear is more comfortable and performs better.
The Klim Extreme pants have really dense knee pads - fall down on concrete - no problem.
My favorite cold weather pants are the FXR Floatex. Too warm above 20 degrees, but excellent quality, very warm, 4 zipper pockets, with 2 pockets just above the knees that are perfect for keys and wallet.
Maybe do a search on Klim to see other opinions.
