I am working with my dealer on my oil usuage. Yamaha has put me on a Ring Free program. The dealer says one can will do it. How many tank fulls should I do and how much of this stuff should I use on an ongoing basis? Also, will Sea-Foam give me the same results or is Ring Free more potent? Any firsthand knowledge will be greatly appreciated.

Man my sled was up to about 1QT in 500 miles Now i went 300 with a Turbo and have used ZERO!!

THANK YOU Seafoam!! I put a little down each plug hole and in the oil and gas!

hey skydog,
What does the seafoam actually do? How can something magically seal up the rings? I have always wondered if this stuff really worked. I use a very small amount of oil on each trip...

What it does man is takes the build up off the ring land area on the pistons. long story short so the rings push out on the cyl walls harder, not hung up in the piston from build up.

hmmmm...how can there be this much build up so soon? I mean I would think everyone is changing oil regularly and some of these motors were eating oil from day one. I notice a lot of black soot in my pipes and I know I get a little black smoke when I start it...even when it's warm. I'm hoping that the jetting that will come withn the filter kit will stop the rich condition.

I use the Ring-free on the "prevent" basis as listed on the back of the bottle. I noticed the exhaust note did "clean up" much better than I expected. In 5k miles on the Rx, it has never used more than 3 oz of oil per 1k miles. It is run mostly at 7000 rpm and up.

Me too.

what do you mean exhaust cleaned up. becouse my ex. tips are black and soot is all over the tunnel ext. could it also help with performance?

sea foam is some great stuff!!!!!! so I run it in the gas. or in oil?

if running in oil and it cleans. do you have to change the oil more to get the garbage out? when putting down the plug holes how much? thanks for the help.

No that is what your oil is for.

I lifted the back of the sled off the ground to get the motor level. I put about 1oz in each hole let sit over night with plugs out turn motor over by HAND on the primary clutch. Make sure it creeped by the rings and in to the crank. Put plugs in start let warm up full. Change oil and filter. MAKE sure the sea foam is out of the cyl. before you start sled.
