This is my first season running studs. I got a 1.5 intense with 96 Woody's Megabites (single square angled backers) running up the middle. First run out I got hung up on a boulder. The sound of those studs scraping over that rock was gut-wrenching but I had no choice. It was spin the track on the rock or leave the sled there and go for help. Soon as I got home I check the track and sure enough a stud is missing. Pulled right through. What is the solution here?? Put another stud in the same bar a couple of inches away from the messed up hole?

wouldn't mess with it either, just keep an eye on the track every so often. I lose a few every season, either broken or ripped through. Track is a wearable item and unfortunately even more so when you run studs. Maybe someone else has one of those handy fixes but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

"ripped a stud out"
A as in 1!... Your doing pretty good. These nytro's throw studs like its going outta style. I had all woody good diggers in mine last year. Ripped/Bent/Broke about 30 of the 144 and 70 of the woodys aluminum backers. I decided woodys was sh!t and not worth the coin. Now I'm using cheap studs and plastic backers. They are lasting longer but not by much.
That's what power costs.

Try fast trac studs and backers. They have been working great for me!!

Studs and tall lugs are not a durable mix. If you want a setup that lasts longer go with a track shorter than 1.25".

Ride it like it is and at the end of the year Send it to carrolltech to be repaired. One of the reasons you ripped the stud out is your using very few. The less studs you run to more stress you put on each stud. As long as you run so few this is a problem you might run into.

I agree, 1 stud is no big deal. But you should be running at least 120 if not 144 if you are an aggressive rider...which is sure sounds like you are. Also, I won't run aluminum backers anymore, since they bend and then the stud can fold over easier creating a tear out.
I'll only run fast fast trac air lite xl backers, stronger and lighter than aluminum.

Its all a crap shoot in the end.
I have Gold diggers with the tall nuts and alum. backers. Haven't had a problem yet and I have been down tracks across and parallel. Also have been stuck in a stream cutting grooves in a rock and a submerged log. All the studs are still there.
All it takes is to hit some obstacle just right and anybody can lose a stud.
