Riser Blocks

I'm 6'1" and have the 2 inch risers on mine. This year I think I'm gonna spring for longer cables and go with 4". With the 2" risers at times you get a little interference when making sharp turns. Nothing that intereferes with the ride though. I find that with the 2" risers I still have to shrug over when standing up. I'd like it a little higher for comfort.

I have powermadd handguards. My hands don't get cold at all. Left side was a pain lining up though because the parking brake got in the way.

I put a 1 1/2 " riser and base off my ZR900 and removed the "tit" off the bars for better adjustment.

If you put risers on and get cold hands, add the hand protectors simialiar to the off road bikes. However, when you make tight turns they may hit the windshield.

I wanted to add the black and yellow acerbis guards like the ones doo is using on one of their spring order sleds but was wondering how the cover would fit :?

Thats the one thing they makers of the hand guards dont tell you.. THEY DONT FIT!!

Um that is a misconception. As you can see in my above pic my bars are quite tall and have sportech speedguards. Here is a picture of my covered sled in same configuration including red BJ Hookers full 90 deg. handle bar hooks just barely visible above on the right hand bar.

Edit; When I put my cover on the sled I found it is much easier to put it over the bars first, then the nose, and last over the exhaust tips for those that don't do it this way.

I am truely amazed you can get the cover to fit as i can bairly get my cover on with just a 2 inch riser block!!

Ive been to several snow shows and have asked lots of questions and no one could answer the cover fitment question!!

My cover fits with the 2" risers, but I have no idea how it would fit with hand guards. I'll probably add hand guards this season, so I'll know then. Its really no big deal, since the Yamaha accessory cover is such crap that it barely works anyway. I'll probably throw mine out this season just to eliminate the agrivation.

Does anyone else have problems with their covers? I have ofund if the weather is cold, the buckles the straps go through don't work...so if I put the cover on after a ride on a warmer day, and come out in the morning and its cold, the damn buckles won't loosen! I resorted to only buckling the cover when I'm trailering, and thats a whole other issue...if the roads are wet (when aren't they in the winter) and the cover gets wet, it freezes and hardens, making it impossible to get on and off. It basically turns to a hard cover, so it won't flex enough to get it over the sled!!! I think that was a very poor choice of material...it absorbs water instead of shedding it!!! I think thats one of the reasons my original seat absorbed so much water, because the cover let it soak through. This year I'm just going to buy a tarp if I have to leave it outside...but I now have heated storage for most of the season. I don't think this is much of a cover, especially since it lists for close to $150!!! I got mine for $100 when I bought the sled, but considering how useless it is, its still high.

I have the MPI 1.5". It work wells, no trouble with cables, my hands did get a little cold with low windsheild, so I added powermadd guards. I have a sheer madness cover that works with the riser but you have to articulate the guards forward and down to fit in the cover.

I LOVE THE NIGHT RIDER LOOK!!COOL ;)!

I'm only 5'10" so that's why I was a little hesitant in going with the 2" risers; just wanted to raise the bars some but nothing too extreme. I think after seeing that pic from Leeko of his sled with the 1.5" risers, I will be doing the same. The height of those handle bars looks to be just right in what I was wanting to achieve. ;)!

welter; maybe there is a difference in snugness between the Shorty cover and a Mountain cover allowing for the naturally higher mountain bars. Maybe you guys that want higher bars should concider looking into a RX-1 Mountain cover. They still only go to the back of the seat.

Leeko, are those 45 or 90 degree hooks?

Edit. Thanks BlgsRX-1M for catching my mistake. ;)!

Rob;

You might want to edit your post :? ? I don't see a post by Turk on this thread. Maybe he's invisible to me  . Did you mean to direct your question to Leeko or me? Mine are 90 degree and from the looks of it so are Leeko's.

By the way Leeko; what brand are your hooks? I never have seen any with the hook back in at the bottom like yours.

I have BJ hookers smallest size, 90 degrees.

Leeko, great looking sled, kinda reminds me of something, maybe another sled i've seen somewhere before.
