New to sledding this year and have a 06 Vector GT. After clocking a little over 1100 miles I have found myself standing a fair amount in the tight twisty trails. My brother made me a 1" block to raise the bars but it's not enough. I'm 5'-11" and feel like I'm leaning over way to far. Anybody know how far I can go without changing cables. I would like to put a 4" adjustable riser on it so I can drop the bars when not needed. Any suggestions on parts needed and suppliers to do this ? Also looking for a set of bar mounted mirrors.Looking over my shoulder to see who's behind me is getting old.

You can have up to an 8" riser without extending cables. However, the TORS will probably have to be disabled or it might go off.
I'm thinking the '06 Vector probably has a 4 1/2" riser stock. An Apex RTX riser would be 6". That is one option.
Another option is to look for an Apex Mountain riser. If you get one, make sure it comes with new bolts, or you'll be special ordering 230mm long bolts, and they are about $4.00 EACH!!
I just did this for my Apex. I tried a 6" RTX riser, it was OK, but at 6'3" it was a little short for me. So, I got an Apex MTX riser & it's perfect. It didn't come with bolts though, so I got #*$&@-raped at Fastenal for new bolts.

I have one of these on my '06 Vector: PowerMadd Universal Pivot Riser System
Being able to move the bars forward helps too.
I really like the Yamaha bar mount mirrors: link
I'm not sure how they would work on the stock '06 Vector bars. I have Apex bars on mine. See if there is an inch of straight bar inboard of the handlebar controls to clamp the mounting bracket to.

The bars on my sled have no riser block all of the rise is done with the bend in the bars. I was thinking of the other option that was pointed out. Switching to a set of Apex bars as this would also solve the problem of having no hook ends which is driving me crazy. I keep finding myself looking for that extra piece of bar when hanging off the side of the sled. Any idea on what year bars to use and were I could find a set ? One other thing what size riser block did you use after switching to the Apex bars and were the cables and harness ok ?

There are lots of posts on this topic here. And I think that you would find that most people could only raise their bars 2" before needing longer cables. I tried rerouting cables and such every which way but Sunday on my 07" Rage and could not see raising the bars more than 2" without longer cables. I found that the parking brake cable and brake hose were an issue going over 2". Also FYI, Apex bars have 2" less rise than your 06" RS bars.
I am using 07' Apex bars with a 1" riser block and a 5" ROX pivot riser. I have the pivot riser straight up vertical. I am using Vector Mountain cables and an aftermarket extended brake hose. There was plenty of slack in the wiring with my setup. I am 5'10" and this setup is just tall enough for me to stand in all but really rough trail. The bars could stand to be another 1" or more taller. G.B.

That's why I went with the Apex bars.thejoker said:Switching to a set of Apex bars as this would also solve the problem of having no hook ends which is driving me crazy. I keep finding myself looking for that extra piece of bar when hanging off the side of the sled.
The Apex bars are not as tall as your Vector bars. Using the 3" pivot riser with the Apex bars put my grips about 1" higher than stock. I also moved them an inch or two forward. I'm 5'-9" and standing is much better than stock. Another 3" would probably make it ideal for standing but might make it feel like a bike with ape hangers when sitting. At 5'-11" and standing most of the time it might be fine. I'm not sure how far you can raise the bars with the stock cables and wiring. I'm sure others here can offer advice on that subject. One other thing what size riser block did you use after switching to the Apex bars and were the cables and harness ok ?
