Rode The Turbo.....Holy Smokes

Engagement is just over 4000 and I get no popping with lag.

The only popping I get is when decelerating from about 1/4 throttle.

Not sure that I really helped, but you are welcome.

Question: have any of you experienced snow plugging the filter?? (Rear Mount). I see the area under the turbo is open to the track (!) Did you leave this area under the turbo open?? I'm thinking it will plug with powder ...and should be closed off. Unfortunantely I have no fluff in my riding area, but am going to find powder eventually. Thoughts?? Thanks

Hyerup,

Yes, several of us have has issues with the filter pluggin with snow. The cure seems to be to cover the bottom hole you mentioned. The new problem that seems to create is that some snow still gets in there and when it hits the turbo it creates steam. The steam then gets sucked into your turbo and turns back into water. Obviously, this creates problems. If you rarely ride in deep, deep powder you can probably get away with just blocking off the hole. If you do ride the deep stuff alot then you need to isolate your filter from the turbo and use SLP flo-rite fabic instead of the outer wear you were given with your kit. It seems to work much better.

As for isolation I built a plate with a hole in it that seels off the turbo area and I extended the inlet to the turbo out past the heat shield. I then mounted the air filter on the new extension and it is now located under the plastic exhaust cover.

I have not rode in bottomless powder since this modification, but in the powder I have rode in it seems to be working.

I hope all of that made sense. I can give you some pictures if you are interested.
