Hey guys-
I have a very strange problem with my RS rage. Today while riding the trail all of a sudden the engine just stoped. The main 30 amp fuse had blown under the air box. put in the spare fuse and it started back up,ran fine for a few seconds than stopped again. Main fuse had blown again. I suspected a wire was rubbing somewhere but could'nt find anything. Took it to the dealer and they went over the wire harness and couldnt find anything but a slightly loose NEG battery terminal so they put it all back together put a new fuse in and started it back up ran it out the shop and headded for my trailer thinking it was fixed and it died again. Another fuse blown. They are kind of at a loos but will call yamaha on monday. Any of you guys have any ideas. The starting circut seems to be working fine she only blows once running. What besides a short would draw enough power to blow a 30 amp fuse while running? Battery seem to be in good order. Any help will be apreciated.
By looking at the wiring diagram, the Blue wire that comes from the Load Control Relay to the Fuesbox must have a Short to the Chassis, because all of the secondary circuits are protected by its individual fues.
The only exception to this is the Red wire that powers the Load Control Relay also Powers the Rerctifier and Fues #41* the Carb.heater and IGN Circuit Fues. The Rectifier circuit is Unlikly the Problem Because there is no circuit protection at the Rect. a short between that and "ground"would result in Smoked Wiring or failed Component.
Hope This Helps.
