My 05 RS Rage has a bad vibration problem that I feel in the handlebars. It is so bad it makes your arm tingle and "go to sleep". The problem is increasigly worse. The track noise is also getting worse. Could these problems be connected?

Any ideas would be helpful. Otherwize a great sled! :exc:

any chance you have flatspotted your belt???? that would be the first thing i would check.

check the bearings in the track drive system. The drive shaft and jack shaft they have been know to vibrate on there way out. Maxdlx

if its drive shaft or bearings u will feel it at ur feet....im guessin a flat spotted belt...check that first

Excellent post!! I experience the same thing on my Vector. My hands get numb at times while riding. I don't feel any vibration really but my hands have never gotten numb before on my SXR. And I have backed the sled off the trailer with the parking brake on....more than once. Yes, I am an idiot! Looks like a belt change for me!

Here are some observations:

It was explained to me that there are more harmonic vibrations in the 3 cylinder motor at various rpm ranges that travel through the sled more than the 4 cylinder motor.

* The 3 cylinder motor does not have a gear reduction like the 4 cylinder motor.

* The firing sequence of the 3 cylinder motor at various rpm ranges also contibutes to the increased harmonic vibrations.

A couple of reasons why the 3 cylinder sleds are harder on bearings than the 4 cylinder motor.

I have found that in certain rpm ranges my hands will become numb, especially on long rail bed runs at around 7,000 rpms.

Just increase, or decrease out of the rpm range, and the particular vibration will dissipate.

I have learned to live with it.

I truly appreciate the fuel economy, and the reliability of this motor.

The motor is absolutley bullet proof.

Agree, there are other possibilities such as; flat spotting a belt, checking the inside running surface of the track, wheels and bearings for condition and security, as well as checking track tension.

I am running the oversized POO wheels which help significantly.

Rubbing ice build up could also be a factor.

Hope this helps! ;)!

I would go with the inner plate clutch that is warped. If the case, this should go resonnant at 6200 at its peak. To verify if it is/or not, look closely at the clutch plate in reference to engine(or closely located fixed part) then just barely click the startter without starting the engine. If it does warp just a little, then at 8k rpm it sure vibrate.

....been there.
(happened to me... just slightly after the dealer put in a o-ring spacer kit ??? OUPSSS !!!)
