I'm seriously considering a 07 vector er. I'm coming from a Sabercat 500efi and I'm kinda concerned about the nose weight on this vector. I'm more of a corner guy and was wondering how well they bite in the turns. I don't expect it to handle as well as the Sabercat but will I be that disappointed? Do they bite from the factory or do i need to buy bigger carbides and change the suspension at all?

TIA

You will have to adjust the suspension and get some dooley carbides. Just my opinion. You will love this sled! You won't feel the weight either! I have an 05' and all my riding buddies love it! We all drive different makes and models.

First, welcome to the site. :rocks:

The Vector corners very well, but you will need to replace the factory carbides. Lots of guys on here went with Bergstrom Triple Points or Shaper Bars. I have read mixed reports on the doolies. You will also want to shim the skis, which is an easy fix and costs less than $10.

Others have swapped out the skis for either Slydogs, C&A's, Simmons, or Doo Pilots. The stock Yamaha skis aren't for everyone and most aggressive riders end up installing aftermarket skis.

I agree with CENA in that you won't notice the weight on the trail. You will notice it when trying to move the front-end while on a trailer bed, or when you get it really stuck. Otherwise, weight isn't an issue at all and just something the other manufacturers highlight to combat Yamaha's growth. ;)!

I bought bergstrom triple points for my RS venture he threw in the shims and the ski savers saved a litte cash but the TP's are pricy. If you tell him you are from this site he gives you a discount!!!!!

No snow yet so cant give my two cents on how well they perform

:letsnow:

The bergstrom tripples are worth the extra money.I put 1500 miles on mine last year and they look like new. I did not have to shim my ski's either. I had zero darting and it rails thru the corners. I left the limiter strap at the factory setting but I took a little spring preload off the front end (ski) shocks and It has very little inside ski lift. I came off a polaris 500 xcsp and let me tell you the vector kicks it butt. Corner to corner it is way faster and funner to ride. On one of our trips in Canada last year I lined up on the lake against my cousins poo 700xcsp and his brothers ski doo 600 h.o. and my buddies 600zl cat and it was another win for the vector. I know the 700 has more topend speed but in the 1/4 the vector is fast out of the hole. Buy the vector and you'll never look back. :4STroke:

I have owned many a sled and I'm here to tell ya that it is the most fun sled I have ever owned.
Handling is pretty damn good just as soon as you lose the stock POS carbides. I ran the dual shapers last year and nobody could keep up with me on the trail. (2000 rpm power band vs 200)
Lined up with my buddies F7 and he couldn't pass me until 80 mph.

I have an 05 Vector, first 4 stroke ever owned. When set up properly these things rock. You have come to the right site for advise and help!

You will want to replace the stock carbides. Woody's or Studboy dualies work well. Try the stock skis first, they may be just perfect for you.
