Last year sold my 09 rs venture gt and got a 09 venture lite now I'm thinking of switching back, the lite doesn't start as good in the cold, fit and finish is not the same, I bought it mostly for the rack and the rad and fan which still overheats with low snow conditions on the lake, its mostly a ice fishing machine, now ive found a good deal on a 10 rs gt and thinking of switch back? Wondering if anybody has done the same?

I really like my Venture GT 2011 for trail riding 1 or 2. I do not carry anything so rack not needed, but can say it tows the grand kids or ice fishing stuff great.
I have ever been on a lite but must say I think I would prefer the GT. It’s not like the lite is a small light sled so what is to gain? I am not sure.
My 2 cents

My MP has had no overheating issues since I drained some coolant and added Water Wetter. I have scratchers also. But you are the best judge since you've had them both and know what you expect/want out of your sled.

It depends on what you are looking for. The two are totally different sleds. For ice fishing, I think the Lite/MP would be more suitable with the rack. I have found it overheated less when I changed the coolant with 50/50 (supposedly Yamaha's original fill was like 100%) and Water Wetter. Any sled will overheat in low snow. The radiator and fan are NOT a replacement for the heat exchanger. It's mostly for when idling and supplements the regular cooling a little. At speed in low snow it can't keep up. If it's still a problem, add a temp gauge like I did to be a bit more proactive.
Temp gauge install

If I were to get an RS Venture, it would be for trail riding and power steering.

Thanks guys, I will probably keep the lite for now and get sr venture in the future, i love my sr viper
