I have 145 miles on my RS Venture.
Nice sled but I need advice on suspension changes.
My situation:
1. 90% of the time I'll be riding it as a two-up.
2. I'm 190lbs w/out gear
3. When I sit on the sled, it goes down only very slightly (1").
4. It steers VERY heavy on the front.
I swapped w/my buddy's new Polaris Switchback 800 and it handled so nimble it was incredible. Next day, my forearms were sore from having to man handle the RS. WAY too heavy in the front.
5. Can't lift the skis from a dead stop if it had too (again, me thinks the frontend is too heavy).
6. Lifts the skis when you zig-zag. The Polaris could kick my #*$&@ in cornering.
Ok, what changes do I need to make in order to:
A) Make the suspension softer
B) LIGHTEN up the front weight for steering
C) Keep the skis on the ground when cornering (not a huge issue - I don't aggressively ride and especially not through corners)
Thanks!

I also am 190 lb. I have my rear suspension on the softest setting ,that is the top triangle block at the back top . When i get on it goes down about
4 inches . When you ride double just switch the quick suspension adjusters for the two up position ,your dealer was supposed to show you
that when you got it . Losen off the front shocks untill you like the feel ,I don;t remember where mine is set it is factory set . Thelong track makes it not want to corner . you have to power threw the corners that is aply some throttle as you go threw the corner . It takes awhile to get used to this sled once you do you will love it .

I guess they were "supposed" to show me too.

Having said that, did the suspension change make the steering lighter?

Try performing some of these adjustments, perhaps one at a time.
Loosen the spring settings on the front shocks.
Tighten the spring on the front suspension shock.
Adjust the control rods to allow more weight transfer.

I would say yes .The post right after mine hits it right on .But the big thing is to catch on to power threw the corners .

I would tighten the center rear suspension shock - more spring pressure - this takes some of the pressure off of the fronts - i would do that first then go after the fronts -

I have the 09 and I tightened up the center shock alot and it lightened up the steering big time , then I played slightly with the transfer rods , I also put some C+A skis on it , now it handles great , I got 5000 KMs on it and love it

I started this thread nearly 5 years ago. Just "re-discovered" it and thought I'd give an update.
I now have my RS Venture dialed in perfect. It took until last season but now I love it. (Sidenote: I'd think about getting a new venture but I'm not going to be set back 5 seasons of adjustments ;-)
Long and short... About 3,500 miles on it. Most of my riding is now solo. (when I bought it my wife planned to be my passenger, then my daughter - but now they both have their own sleds.) I now run Woody Duallys (HUGE difference - no more darting), I tightened up the center shock one a notch, adjusted the transfer rods a couple threads. And adjusted the front shocks one notch.
Sled rides like a dream except on hard surface (gas stations). It used to be so front heavy it would dig in even on asphalt and turn. Now it doesn't but a worthwhile tradeoff
