A friend has a '07 RS Venture and the passenger handwarmers do not seem to get warm enough to keep the passenger hands from getting cold.

Even when travelling at moderate speed continuously they don't get warm.

His dealer checked them out and says the system is working properly.

One thing I noticed is they use a foam (porous) grip covering which I would think is a very poor choice of covering to retain heat on the grab bars. Why not a similar rubber covering like the handgrips on the handlebars?

Any suggestions on what to check or do to get some acceptable heat out of the "grips"? Not good having your passenger trying to deal with cold hands on a ride!!

Concur,

The foam grip material was used to reduce harmonic vibration so the passengers hands don't get numb.

Have them check all the wires, along with the heating element for resistance. This is my best guess.

Hope this helps! ;)!

I have had a couple of 2 up sleds with passenger heated grips and they never seem to work as good as the drivers...The ones on my 4 stroke work better then the ones I had on my 600 Venture..the only time it seems you tell if they are working is when it is extremely cold out..I am not sure why it is like this ...

mine were always cool, i remember faintly about a thread that some wires were reversed or something with the wiring ? I remeber there were some issues with the model, I took mine to the dealer and they fixed it

Wires crossed?

Thanks for the replies.

Big_ry_ry, do you have any paperwork from your dealer that tells of what they did or found to be the problem or fix?

Curious if it could be as simple as wires incorrectly connected.

I must admit, they're close to useless..... (in the opignon of my usual passenger)
As stated above, the cover material does not help at all.
The only thing i can come up with (as for how the dealer could give a help) is to bypass the rear grip power relay so that the circuit is always energized. Yes.... stock, heating is on provided the engineRPM is above 3600. >>This is 2005 RS Venture; other may be different<< I recall getting close to a pissing contest saying that last year:

When I traded in the sled i gave the dealer all my paper work, i'm weird like that i keep every receipt and I fiqure let the new owner have some peace of mind that their new sled was taken care of by me.

So to answer your question no i don't have the paperwork anymore...
