My father has this venture and it started last week but now power seems fine to dash but no start only a click with error code 12 any suggestions

Can anyone tell me how to test crank position sensor and solenoid.? A lot of info on electrical issues seem a little check on some stuff wouldn't hurt before I bring it to dealer .
