Okay Venture owners - give me your opinions on how the RS Venture stacks up against the GTX 600 SDI. I have read a lot of threads here and understand that you guys have problems with hyfax wear, steering issues and terrible track howl. So sell me on how the Venture is better than the GTX.

Here is what I like about the Venture:
- 4 stroke, so there is the economy, enviro side and silky smooth power
- great fit & finish from Yamaha
- 144" track plus available 151" (I think) and floatation skis
- looks good
- realiability

Convince me that the good outweights the bad that I have seen here or that the bad has been fixed.

I ride with 2 Dooers and they have not had a single problem with their sleds whereas I have had problems with wheels, hyfax, howl, and TORs.

Two things keep me from switching to Doo. 1. Engine. 4 stroke clean and longevity, 3 cylinder smooth. 2. Riding position, my knees can't take that extreme rider forward position. Oh, and a third reason, can't see myself in yellow and acting like a doo-hole :o|
:yam:

I dont know if you know this but most two strokes use the injection oil to lube the lower bearings in the crankshaft.Ski doos "better idea"is instead of using the two stroke oil to lube crank bearings they use a grease that just packs into the bearings,it cost about $60.00 for a small tube, its supposed to last the life of the engine, which is about two years then the crank is junk and needs to be rebuilt.

I have a few skidoo buddys thats how I know about this. They dont seem to mind, replacing cranks is just part of normal maintenence.I cant for the life of me figure out why they would build an engine that way.It does make it use allot less injection oil but at a pretty high price if you plan to keep the sled for any length of time.

If you want to see for your self search "ski doo crank bearing grease" on the net.
