I am at a crossroads. I need to replace my track due to lugs tearing off. Two seasons is definitely not that great, but from what I understand it is characteristic of the hard rubber compound used in these tracks.

My question is primarily focused on those who own one of these with the 1.75 lug sno-x track. What are your thoughts on replacement tracks?

1) Exact same thing
2) Latest Camso 1.75 sno-X (ours is an older model)
3) A more std track like a Rip saw II 1.5"
4) Ice cobra 1.6"

I'm really torn. Do I give up the 1.75 to chase the high 90 mph mark and give up my bottom end hook and punch, or do I stick with what the sled was made to do-corner to corner with arms stretched hard?

The reason my primary focus is on those who own this model is because those who do not automatically say lose the track and go more standard. I have tried regearing closer to the factory std model ratio (24/49) and not seen much difference if any at all.

I'll throw the next wildcard out there as well: Resale There is a strong possibility that I will be moving on from this sled and probably Yamaha as well. I've been burned and seen far too many subsequent burns to have ANY faith in the companies integrity. The youngest grandson is going to be big enough that his head will be in the way to ride in front of me probably next season already so I may be looking more towards a 137 class 2 up.

Buddy with the 800 LE cat has one on his 137" works great. Good balance. Does not hook up like yours does though. Might be 137 or might be track is softer. Has Held up perfectly with 3000mi.

TD Max I changed my gearing as well to 24/49 when I installed the turbo this past summer. I will be trying the backcountry X2 2" on mine when I replace the track If I don't change to a XTX SW. I have run the 1.75 Backcounty on my old SRX and found it to be a great track with good flotation in the deeper stuff it didn't have that exact same bite as the sno-x on the hard stuff but much better in the deep. My dad also runs on on his 129 Cat and likes it, I was on the fence about changing the sled around too but I decided to keep it the way it was designed, a rough trail ditch banging wheelie machine!!

I'm Soooo torn! I like everything about the way the Sno-X track works except the top speed. Most of my central and northern WI running is wooded and it's the perfect setup for that, but I'm not sure that I want to change the track again after 1 or 2 seasons. Also looking at potential resale and thinking that a 1.5 ripsaw II is a nice compromise.

I have the 1.5" Ripsaw 2 on my sled and have been extremely pleased with it. Hooks up great, off trail is very good, and durability has been excellent. It's has been a huge improvement in traction over the 1.25" Ripsaw 2. I ran it all last year on my NA Viper, and my brother ran it on his turbo Viper. Both of us are very pleased with the track and it brought back some of the fun-factor that we missed from our Nytros. The track is very similar to the 1.5" Intense that was hugely popular. I turboed my Viper this summer and am not worried about the track at all.

I can't compare to the 1.75" that came on your LE. But upgrading from the 1.25" has been nothing but positive. The only negative might be the loss of a few mph on top end. But a turbo solves that problem :) ... Your sled would likely gain a few mph.

Between the Backcounty 1.75" and the Ripsaw 2 1.5", I don't think you can go wrong. Both have their advantages, will make your sled fun, and will be better than the SnoX track.

Ok just so I have this straight you are Jason aka Gade-Thrasher correct?

How fast was Scott's sled top end with the turbo?

Yep - that's me. MrSled graciously adorned me with a new name on last year's Manitoba ride ... LOL
I don't think Scott (Muffin) ever really got a chance to fully open up his turbo last year. He could easily pass the c-note, but he did gear up as well. So not really apples-to-applies.

Hey TD, as you know my brother and I have the same sled as you. Me bothers snowx track came apart and decided to go with a ripsaw track. He did pick up around 9-10 mph over mine but the hook-up and breaking were greatly reduced. Don't know about the other tracks your talking about but for a corner to corner sled it's amazing how much better the snowx track is. Now with that being said, last year in Quebec on those long straights only peaking out at around 80 mph made the sled pretty boring. I would say definitely not a ripsaw track, go with one of the other tracks your looking at. But, if they will replace it under warranty, your kinda stuck with what they give you. Yamaha wouldn't pay for any other track but a ripsaw, if joe wanted any other he would have had to pay for it himself. Kinda sucks that Yamaha wouldn't just give a credit towards another.

I hate to take a bath on my sled especially with all the TLC and upgrades that went into it, but the SW hype is sounding like it may be a real going machine.
I hear you. It kills me that I just made my Viper a monster and Yamaha finally releases the monster we always knew they could. grrrrr

I put a 2" backcountry on the LTX over the summer, and geared down a bit. No seat time yet, but if you hold out I can tell what the results are. With a can only, I was able to gear out at 106 in perfect conditions with a 1.6 cobra last year. Curious to see if I can come close to gearing out with the 2". Should be a hoot corner to corner and in the deep off trail now though.

That's kind of what I was figuring. Did your brother do the std 1.25 ripsaw though?

I managed to get the part covered, but not the labor before last season. My dealer was given the credit but I gave the old track another season since it wasn't just to bad. So is yours holding up better than your brother's?
