My Dealer has informed me that the RTX might come with 2 sets of shocks becausa Yamaha is concerned with the Fox Floats? Is this a load?
Here in Scandinavia, the Yamaha-importers are selling the RX-1 RTX with Öhlins, no Floats! Might be your dealer has heard that Yamaha makes two different versions (US/Canada versus Europe)??? He could be right though, but I doubt they will send out 2 pairs of shocks. You might be given a choise of the two?

I heard a rumor in the spring that the dealer will receive the sled with the regular shocks plus the Floats. This was because simpler for Fox to ship direct to dealer. Has nothing to do with Fox reliability. Where oh where does Yamaha get some of these dealers from?

If its garbage then why has it been on almost every race sled since the 90's?

I highly doubt anything will happen to those shocks im not plannen on jumpen 50+ feet anytime soon so those shocks will do the job thats my 2 cents!

They are cheap and easy to rebuild.
Elka, Walker Evans, and Ohlins are the Class of Shocks out there. The Only Reason Yamaha is Using the Fox is the weight.

i know yamaha would never let anything slip through like this to ruin their record, they have yet to do so in a long time
the W-arm on the 05s was never tested over a long period b4 and they fixed the next season
the fox-floats have been around for a while and i'm sure any problems they had they fixed

A yam rep at one of the shows i attended said that these aren't just regular Fox junk that's used on Cats. They have been built to yamaha's specs and have been tested quite extensively. He also said they differ from what you would find on a cat. He said they should last over 2500 miles with normal use (whatever that is).. I think it's typical BS, but at least they know apparently that "Cat fox shocks" are useless.
