Does anybody know how good or bad the black paint wears on a 06 Vector GT. I asked earlier if anybody knows where to get the foot pads that rivet to the running boards, with the diamond cutouts to fit the Vector. Still can't find them anywhere. Any suggestions?

i had a 00 sxr with a blue painted tunnel, and it seemed to hold paint very well... we put lots of miles on her before she went to a new owner, and when we sold it, the tunnel paint was still good. a little wear under the feet, but other than that no problems

i dont know about the vector, but i assume it should do as well...

I have an '06 Vector GT and put less than 1000 miles on it last season. Unlike Yamahas of the past, the black paint wore through instantly. I could not find any tunnel protectors made to fit these running boards. ARE THERE ANY AFTERMARKET MANUFACTURERS OUT THERE READING THIS? I made my own alunimum plates to extend the existing foot plates back far enough to cover the area where the boot heals wear through. I also went to a local graphics shop and bought a two foot long piece of gloss black vinyl. After making a pattern for each side of the tunnel that covered it from the foot well to about the center of the RA knob I cut the vinyl and fitted it in place. You can not tell its there if you are more than a foot away. If that gets marked up, it can simply be replaced with a new piece.
