RX-1 cuts out over bumps.

I may try swappin the silver springs for the red springs this weekend and running it. I understand the theory, but have a hard time believeing that the slides would close far enough going over a bump to cause the sled to completely cut out the way it does. Other than springs the only difference between the two sleds we have (one cuts out, one doesn't) is that the little filters under the needle valve seats are removed on the sled that doesn't cut out. I don't really buy that either but maybe that allows the bowls to fill faster and keep the mains in the fuel? It's kind of annoying, if I figure it out I'll let you guys know. I may try swapping the entire carb racks between mine and my dad's sled to at least pintpoint the problem to the carbs, although I can't imagine what else would be causin it.

I have my filters under the needle seats gone to .I still have the same problem.

Your carbs are slamming shut mometarily causing the problem. My '03 mtn did the same until I got the mtn float bowl update and put in red springs. What happens is the jolt causes the slides to close momentarily until the vacuum of the engine causes them to re-open. Remember these slides operate from vacuum and not cables like the two smokes; that's why there is hardly any resistance on the thumb lever.

This could vary from sled to sled based on the stiffness of the suspension also. Are you and your dad's set to the same suspension settings or is your's set up stiffer?

BlgsRX-1mtn, Know that some like you nailed it!!
Thank you Skydog

cutting out

yes i think thats it as well one can also drill out the vacum holes in the bottem of the slides as well. this is why the little o rings are inportant. allso watch the diaframs on the top of the carbs for misalinment with the grove in the carb body. i have found the differnt fuels make the diaframs expand and that they would not go back in there place properly :? thuse i put them out side in some -35 temp.s to shrink them down. the next week took the same carb top off and it was fine :o
