O.K., I have a red 2003 RX-1 and a Blue 2004 RX-1 seat. I have tried to sell the seat, but the best offer I got was $100 plus I pay shipping. Not going to happen. So, my question is, would the cover on my 2003 fit on the 2004 seat. It would look a little funny to have a red sled with a blue seat. If it would fit, how hard would it be to swap out the covers? Would I have to have a "professional" do it? Comments much appreciated.

The 03 cover should fit fine. Guys on here are adding 2 or 3 in of foam and reusing the stock cover. You'll need a 3/16 drill for the rivets that hold on the shields, and a professional staple gun to shoot the staples through the plastic. A regular hand stapler wont cut it. FYI, the stock 04 seat isn't much better then the 03. I've tried both and they both suck compared to the 05 or an after market seat like a BOSS.

Shouldn't be a problem at all.

1. Remove the seat.

2. Remove the staples from the '03 cover you are going to use.

3. Next you will need to insert a long blade screwdriver into the elastic straps so you can pull the small wire out of the elastic straps, and not have them snap back into the seat.

Repeat 2 - 3 on the 2004 seat to hold the straps, and reinstall the wire.

then center it over the foam, restaple from the center to the outside. 1/4" or 6mm staples I think??? (same size you took out)
