Anyone tangled with an '05 Polaris 800 Switchback?
My buddy just called and bought a switchback. (He had a 2000 Polaris 700 that was topdog until we bought RX-1's last year - ate him up. He couldn't stand that happening again this year).
How will an RX-1 w/ECP and Matt's clutch kit fare against the switchback?

RX-1 wins that one, no contest.

I'm pretty sure the rx-1 can handle the polaris without the clutch work or filters.

05 800,s were quick to 90 mph...real quick. Good chance he will get you to that speed but you definately get him on top.

No contest. If you get any kind of hook up at all, you'll at least hang with him until about 70 then say bye, bye.
Your RX should have no problem the longer track and heavier lug will also have him thinking twice about the switch back if you trail ride. The sled has a lot of vibration from both motor and track. I have a buddy with one and he borrows one of my sleds when we go to the UP to ride trails.

Not even a race.... those 800s were 135hp tops.. some were only 127hp..
being a longer track is going to hurt the top end..
Your sled has the same setup as my warrior did last year and i killed a stock ZR800.. F7.. F6.. etc etc.

I love the whole "I killed them disease". What constitutes "killed them"?.... just getting there first? A 05 switch 800 will be a good race for a RX. He will pull you pretty easy out of the hole 8 out of 10 times. Just make sure its over 1200 feet. But snow conditions, sled set up, rider weight and so on can vary so much.

An polaris 800 isnt going to pull the 05 RX out of th hole ... if it does it wont be by much.. (depends on setup) If he had a 03 Rx.. i would tell him he would get killed.. (03s had no hookup)
When i say i killed a zr800... i mean KILLED... probobly about 1-2 seconds faster and 5mph faster on top!
When i say i killed a F7.. i mean 2-4 sled lengths and 2-3 mph.. faster
When i say i killed a F6... i mean we stayed side by side till 40mph.. then i pulled away very hard.. and when he couldnt go any faster (95mph) i kept pulling away till my speedo said 119mph! I was atleast 1/8mile ahead at that point..
LOL

I'd say that's "killed" by my definition. BTW my 03, stock track smoked 2 Switchbacks last winter. They are not that fast. But, they sure are ugly though. Ha!

I raced a blue and yellow Polaris 800 on my '04 Warrior and got the jump on him over and over again.(We both don't have studs.) I would jump out at least a sled length, then continue to build to about 4 sled lengths and hold that advantage for as long as you wanted to hold it.He liked my sled, and after that he said he's buying one!
