Would anybody know what the mixture setting should be on a stock 2005 rx-1? I have cleaned the carbs, and verified the stock jetting of 135 main, 17.5 pilot, and i have the mixture set at 2 turns out from lightly seated.
From my first ride out last night, it seems to be eating fuel at an alarming rate.. I pulled the pto plug and it looked white, almost like new.. I'll go pull the others. Cr10ek's btw. Pulls good on top end to about 10100 to 10200 , but the bottom end may be suspect? Not sure.. First mpg estimation is about 6 mpg... This can't be right..

Two turns out from a light seat is correct. Run some mechanic in a bottle in your gas and or seafoam. Your plugs should not be white looking make sure your air box is on correctly.

Went out and checked the rest of the plugs, and #3 from pto is carbon black, and the rest are like new still.. The air box is seated to the carbs, and there is seafoam in the tank. I think the plugs are just starting to get color, as i only went 30 miles, but i don't understand #3.. I first tried your air box mod, with jetting(170 main, and 20 pilot) but had problems getting rpm(8900) and seemed like it was skipping. Plugs looked good tho.. Hmm.. I figured i should go back to stock( bought another air box), and try and get it running right there first.. Now #3 plug looks fouled. Not sure what to do next. This cylinder has a new coil also, i replaced 2 of them. It is definitly running on all 4 on top end, but not on bottom I think.

fuel is all fresh 91 octane non ethanol also.

I am thinking you had better clean your carbs again and make sure the jets are clean and not mixed up. Change your phillips head carbs screws to allen head screws too. Did you change your c clip settings or springs and if you did you may have lost the little o rings on the top cap.

I will take them back off again as soon as I can get out of work. The only jets I could have switched up are the mains, and the one next to it that has a 75 on it i believe. The slides are in the middle clip position, with stock springs. The o rings I was very careful not to lose, but I will check again. Do you happen to know what size/thread the screws in the carb bowls are? I would love to swap them out.

Thank you for the tech help Sled Dog, any help is appreciated..

Yes those are the only two that can get mixed up if you are back to stock you should have 135 main jets and 17.5 pilots make sure you can see through all of your jets blow carb cleaner then air through every hole, nook and cranny. You can get your screws here from crewcheif47 at this link http://sledtoyz.com/component/virtuemar ... egory_id=8

You should be running 87 regular you will find the sled will run better and fill up with premium on your last ride so there is no ethanol in the tank mix some seafoam for good measure or mechanic in a bottle.

I had to refill when i rode because it is using so much fuel, and I put in 87. What would cause fuel to be on top of the bellows? #3 is wet on top.. I swapped the bellows on carb 3-4, and made sure that the lil rubber o rings were there' and in proper place, and cylinder 3 is still wet on top, with carbon fouling on plug. So it cant be the bellows.. Otherwise the problem would have moved to number 4. The thing rips 10200 on top. It seems to be good from half throttle up. Any place in the bottom of the carb I should look, when I pull them again?

Hmmm gas on top the bellows may mean your fuel pump diaphram may be ruptured and fuel is going to the vacuum pulse side and ending on top the bellows. The only other thing that may be causing your fuel to go is float valve and seat may need replacing.

I will check the float valve assembly when I take them off again.. Seems like if that was bad, it would leak fuel while sitting, but it doesn't seem to be.. Maybe the float height adjustment.. I will have to compare it with the other 3 that are running well. If it was in the fuel pump, I would assume that it would effect the 2 right carbs, not just #3, but I'm unsure..

This is frustrating.. I went to 4 stroke for reliability, and fuel milage.. I will prolly find out it's my fault in some way..
