Saddle bags for long trips.

Yamaha Bags Falling Apart

I know this is an older topic, but I purchased a 2005 RS Venture with all the optional luggage options including two saddlebags and bag that fits in when the rear seat is removed. They have all pulled apart at the seams after only being used a few times. There is no reinforcement at the seams so the nylong material just pulls apart over time. Don't waste your money on these bags. I am looking for an alternative. Yamaha makes such a good sled and its a real shame they skimp on the luggage.

I use a set of Poloris bags I had from my 600 xc 2001 I had them reinforced at the local shoe repair place. All the seams and straps. They are the heavy nylon with expand zippers lots of room. I dyed the poloris logo black and it works and fits very well. I also use 2 gal. zip lock bags to put clothes in keeps them dry and no stink from fumes.

did u take it up with your dealer...... i bet they will warranty the bags or repair them for you...... our vector set is still perfect after two years or use, sometimes with little in them, other times stuffed.... still look new

I had bad luck with saddlebags too they fell apart and the dealer gave me a in store credit to keep me happy...which was ok by me. I now have had great luck with a medium size waterproof nylon travel bag and tie it down with a 4' rachet strap at the back of my seat, this worked great! The hooks actually grab well under the tunnel at my extension area and didn't give me any problem on a 1,500 mile Michigan U.P. trip with some very rough trails. Just went over the top of the bag and rachet it down tight ;)!
