SEAFOAM AND ETHANOL

does anybody keep there sleds rear end up on a stand while storing? is that really necessary?

this is the 1st year i will not be doing this as they are being stored in a trailer for the 1st time. in the tempo shelter or garage i support the back of the sled to save the track from rot. still have a 1978 et340 on the origonal track that has been stored this way for all its life.

Gas with Ethonal is not very good. Your gas mileage goes down and it can cause your engine light to come on in your vehicle. Everytime I put that type of gas in my engine light comes on. I add a can of seafoam and it goes off! Not many gas stations left without it though. On another note, I have used stabil in the past and gunked up my carburator over storage. I have been using Seafoam now for at least 5 years and it is the greatest product out there for carbs and other uses!! Use it, you will love it!! I just dumped some into an old mini bike carb that sat for along time and wouldn't run. Started right up!! Great stuff!!

E10 does cause mpg to go down a very small amount, but on the same token, it got rid of the issue of icing carbs on sleds in winter. If you are jetted with a 2 stroke spot on for non oxygenated gas, then you might want to go up 1-2 jet sizes in very cold weather, or risk a burn down. Since we are on a 4 stroke site, it is almost a moot point.

In 15 plus years of using e10 in SE Wisconsin, I have never had a check engine light come on from using e10. Now it is pretty much nearly impossible to get non ethanol added gas in Wisconsin, regardless of whether it says it has ethanol added or not.

If you store your sled with the rear on a stand, I believe it is necessary to take the weight off your front end also. What I have always done is jack the front end up a few inches and put a block of wood under the belly pan area. This keeps the weight off the front shocks.

I also take my clutch springs out so they stay "fresh".

That's my theory anyway, and I believe it is a good thing.
