Anyone have the spec for the wear limit on the seconday clutch bushings? All I can find in the TOG is to check it for "damage, out-of-round, etc. If I slide the sheave, there is some deflection but if it were much tighter, I'm not sure it would be free enough(?) It measures 38mm with 9900mi -

I bought a new one and put it in becasue I was wondering the same thing. When I got done, I only gained .0003" + .0001". I had about 8k miles on it at the time. I think you can put a lot more than 8K miles on before you need to change it. More like 15-20K.

Thanks Len. I ended up NOT replacing them because if you check them (individually) by "wiggling" either the sheave or the cover, there "appears" to be a bit of play but if you put the driven clutch together (without the spring) and check with BOTH bushings supporting the sheave, it seems fine. Just seems odd that Yamaha doesn't give a number for wear limit.
I did replace the three clutch shoes because the faces showed wear and there wasn't 1mm left at the base of the face where the TOG says to check them. WOW $15.14 (list) really seems excessive for those buggers!

Yes the Secondary shoes can be expensive. Yamaha really rapes us on parts and they design the sled to use these parts. But, keeping these parts up to spec keeps the sleds reliable. So, it is kind of a trade off.
Next time, you might try a forum search on these shoes. You can get some fairly cheap (couple bucks apiece). Someone has located a source for the old ones that seems to work fairly well. There is some discussion regarding the material compositions and angles, etc. But one user says the cheap ones are working well and lasting just fine.

Yep, after paying $15/shoe, I found that ShadeTree (Part#03-1519) has them for $1.29/shoe. Ordered two sets so even if they aren't made up of the same composite as the Yamahas and wear faster, I'm still saving money.
