Shipping from U.S. to Canada-are my numbers correct

After pricing out two sets of tuner skis with 4" runners shipped from Port Yamaha to Ontario and comparing the results to buying at Cdn. msrp from a local here is what I found:

Tuner skis 4@62.96=251.84 4@79.95=319.98
4" Yam carbides 4@53.96=215.84 4@66.95=267.80
Shipping 43.00 13% tax= 76.41
Totals 510.68 664.19
Difference = Savings of $153.51

Are these U.S. figures correct? Is that what they charge for shipping? Is there duty or any other fees, taxes,etc? Could Ontarians who've ordered from Port relay their experiences. Throw in the fact our dollar is at par or slightly higher and gas to drive to your local dealer and you can have them delivered to your front door for a savings of over $160.00? Almost 25% cheaper ordered from your living room chair? Sounds to good to be true!

The savings are there to be had in the US.. Just make sure you ship with USPS and NOT UPS or fedex.. etc.

You may still have to pay 5% tax when they arrive. I still havent really sorted that part out.. I've ordered dozens upon dozens of orders out of the US.. Sometimes they charge that 5%, other times nothing.

I see Powersports 1 is having a Black Friday sale and the numbers become even better:
Skis 237.84 vs 361.37(Cdn taxes added)
Carbides 203.84 vs 302.61(Cdn taxes added)
Shipping 41.50
Totals $483.18 vs $663.99(recalculated-20 cent error above)
New difference= $180.81
Looming in close to $200.00 when gas to dealer is added. "We have NEW PRICING on over 135,000 parts and accessories." It seems they aren't quite "NEW ENOUGH."

I've been buying for yarsoutta the states and yes make sure it comes USPS and not ups or fedex , duty and brokage fees are terrible

Here's the other argument, from a small import /distributor. Support the local dealer and ask for something like a 10% discount. We (Canadians) are a small market, spread out over a huge area and are a tiny % of any market. The fact is it costs more to support and supply to Canadians at the distributor level.

There is a misguided feeling that we are always being screwed over and 'it isn't fair'. Well yes and no. Fact. It costs more to do business in Canada, and those costs also supports our health care, schools and old age security.

I had a friend who 'saved big money' buying tires in NY state. There was a warranty issue with them and he went through hell getting all four replaced because the local dealer and distributor said go to hell. Not only did he wreck a relationship with his tire guy, he wasted days trying to get the mess resolved. The big savings was $150 and 'the principle of the thing'.

However. IF there is a huge gap in cost, say 20%, I agree we are getting screwed...there is no excuse for that kind of gap and the market must speak. If you cannot get something, like zero supply of the new Dupont sliders last year which was complete BS, again I say go for it.

The local guy is important, and has some pricing flexibility. Don't discount your time either.

Teamyamaha: The website says the carbides are sold in pairs so if I'm getting 4 skis(8 carbides in total), wouldn't I need 4 (2x4=8) sets?

I think the confusion here is the word sets. I should have said item or part #.
