Two years ago I bought a piggy back adjustable shock from my dealer to replace the garbage factory rear shock that came on the 2008 FX MTX. It came from Yamaha and looks identical to the shock that is on the FX XTX but may have a different eye to eye length.
Any way when it came it didn't have any adjustable knob on it. I could give you the story as to why this is only becoming an issue now, but it's long and boring. The dealer ordered in a knob from Yamaha, however there is a problem with the area where the knob goes.
Took the shock to the dealer 8:30 am Wed morning. As of 8:30 am Friday morning here's the status...
Yamaha doesn't make the shock and their answer to how the shock is now would be to replace the whole shock. Yamaha doesn't know who made the shock but gave the dealer information on who may have made it. The dealer has contacted them and they advised they didn't make it and gave the name of someone else that may have made it. To date the dealer has not been in contact with this party but will try today.
This is not a bash my dealer post and I want to note that my dealer has been pretty good to me over the years and is continuing to work on this issue for me.
Two and a half questions,
Would any one have contact information on companies that may be the source for the parts to such a shock.
What would be the chances that there is someone in Newfoundland that has experience fixing/rebuilding shocks that would have the required parts on hand and who would that be.

I would give Bruce (I think) at Pioneer Performance a Call. He has a ton of experience with yamaha/non Yamaha shocks. Might have to mail them to him but he will get it figured out. Plus they are in NY so that is not too far.

Thanks for the tip. I tried calling a few times 1-716-496-8800 but there is a fair pause and then a busy signal. Not sure if there is a problem with the line or just busy. I will try again later.
Ideally, I need someone that knows what parts are rebuildable and where these parts can be obtained from. Then if the shock can be fixed, I need the parts shipped air freight to have any chance of getting the shock repaired by next Friday.
Sending the shock away isn't going to work for me. That would mean that I'm down again the weekend of January 22/23. If I can't get this shock fixed by next week I'll look to my options for replacing the back shock again.

It turns out the shock is a Soqi shock which is a company owned by Yamaha. However Yamaha doesn't have a parts list for these shocks which tends to be a problem and is not giving the shocks the best rep for being able to be fixed.
Yamaha may be coming out with parts lists in the future, but there isn't anything available now.
My dealer is still looking at options.

Soqi, now called Yamaha HS (HS = Hydraulic Systems), is the manufacturer of all Yamaha OEM shocks that are not Ohlins, KYB or Fox.
The shock you are talking about, is it OEM in one of the Yamaha models or is it some kind of aftermarket / accessory shock...?

Soqi makes shocks for other companies as well. In the ATV industry, Suzuki, Kawi and Yamaha all use soqi on there top line models.

It is a Soqi shock that was available in the accessories book in 2009 I believe.
My dealer will try and get the parts to fix it first and if that dose not work, he will replace the shock as it came in broken.
Just a bit of a waiting game now, but I'm confident my dealer will take care of it to my satisfaction.

Check with suspension shops that advertise service of Yamaha OEM shocks. Soqi's main thing is OEM shocks for Yamaha. Because of this I suspect that their very few aftermarket and accessory shocks share many components with the OEM shocks.
