Its fine right now ,just never know and i will replace with a brand new yamaha unit.>sled has 9200mi< and ive heard and read stators/sensors fail from 6000mi up to 15000mi .. ?
Buddy replaced his at 11,200 so idk ? i know it would suck if it failed me when im trying to have fun..its getting older so just a matter of time.
Just wondering what your thought are .

My .02 run it it is not a definite that it will fail like some other known yamaha problems like the drive shaft. some do some dont and most times it is just the coil trigger that fails and is no need to replace the whole thing. im sure others will chime in thou.

Thanks, i would replace it all not just the pickup .. replaced my drive shaft just to be sure at 8800mi cause i do push the sled at times and would hate it if it broke at 80mph !My .02 run it it is not a definite that it will fail like some other known yamaha problems like the drive shaft. some do some dont and most times it is just the coil trigger that fails and is no need to replace the whole thing. im sure others will chime in thou.
Sled runs every week i started it since new ,never any issues .
Part of me says change it,the other part says it still works.

Stator replacement is not big chore on the 4 cylinders. You could pick up a replacement and keep it on hand. If on a trip and it dies you could install the new one to get up and running again.

Thanks,Yes i thought of that as well, but if it fails 100mi away from the part -its 100mi away..it is simple to change,i think im going to do so. hate it when things fail when im having fun.Stator replacement is not big chore on the 4 cylinders. I carried a spare on two separate trips last year. Had one fail the day I was leaving for a trip the year before. Pretty easy to change on the fly if you needed to. Would totally suck if left stranded.

So guys, what's the general consensus here on WHY these things fail? The only time I have seen one fail personally is when there is movement up and down in the crank to make the flywheel rub.
I know ROCK said Yamaha engineers these stators with a large safety factor.....but is there a direct link to something like perhaps the Yamaheater putting an extra load on? Regardless, I will still always run the yamaheater.

I dont think there is any tie to extra load that has been detected as of yet. and most fails have nothing to do with the charge coil it is with the pick up that sends signial to the spark plug coils that is most common fail. has any one seen if the fly wheel has made contact with it causing it to fail?is it possible they are shaking loose and need to have a pm on them with some lock tite? or is it just elictrical fail?

From what i have read is that they seem to usually fail (pick-up coil) that is part of the stator.after a run somewhere ,you shut the sled off and at some point later in time you go to start and then you get codes and starting issues? its like it cools down then fails ,cracks something ? my stator is fine and i have my 06 bars with the harness that ,if ever i run past 2bars ,i also have heated gloves that help.my L.E.D.S draw almost nothing, and i have a switch for that.everything is fine now,but we all know that when they get up in mileage ,is just a matter of time...
Which makes me wonder if the guy with the vector with 60,000+ miles ever had a failure ?

My stator was fine, it was the pickup that failed. No physical damage, just wide open when tested with a DMM.
