My wife wants a sled with electric start. She rides an 05 500s mxz adrenaline with roughly 3k for milage. Ive been approached with a possible trade for an 07 phazer with 3.5k for milage. Would this be a decent trade? What should i look for in the 07 Phazer? i see a lot of them for sale is this a bad year for the phazer, i know it was the first year for the phazer 4 stroke.
thanks,

They are different sleds for sure. That SS (it is an SS, right?) has the solid non-HO 600 motor in it and is one of Skidoos sleeper sleds. Very quick and light. Somewhat of a secret, but that sled will keep up with the big boys up to 60-70. Plus it does not have the engine issues that plagued the HO motors of that era.
On the other hand there are a lot of nice things about the Phazer, but it is no match in power, and is considerably heavier. Make sure she rides one before you switch.
I have ridden both, and the SS takes less effort to handle which might be important for a woman.
Personally, if she really likes the Rev, I would simply add electric start to it. This from a guy who really likes Yamahas.

Yamaha Phazer 2007 GT
I purchased an 07 GT myself last season.
Look into that it has all the updates done to it.
This season I had the famous starter issue where the bolts vibrated out and I took apart my front end to loctite the starter bolts back in.
Which wasn't really a big deal. It was a good learning experience if anything.
Other than wanting a new track on it (which is in the process) there is nothing I don't like about it.
Takes some getting used to as far as the stability of the sled. But it just makes it more fun.
Also there is quite a bit of play in the steering as far as it being tight and responsive.
But they make everything you would need for any issue with it.
Can't beat that fuel mileage with no oil fill ups!
Edit: In my experience compared to riding other models of ski-doo and arctic cat, the phazer is the lightest one ive ever rode.

Make sure that it has the radiator fan, grounding block upgrade, and the cold start issue fixed. I would get the serial number and take it to a dealer to see if all the upgrade have been done first. The phazer is an amazing sled but if your not used to it it can be very tippy and darty. Hope this helps.

Stick with your Skidoo. If she's happy with her sled, aside from the lack of electric start, then don't do the trade. See if you can add electric start to the MXZ.
These 2 sleds are totally different in handling...she may end up totally hating the ride of the Phazer...newer doesn't always equate to better. Get her to test ride the Phazer first. Also, I've read about too many issues on the 07 Phazer to warrant the purchase for a friend of mine...not worth it imo.

Phazers take a lot of body english to ride, its not a sit, grip, and go sled. Just because its 500cc diesnt mean its a good "female/kids" sled.

1)Would you all still feel the same if it were an 08 phazer or did they work the kinks out by then?
2)Not many recommended it for a female, how about if i rode it? 32 yr old male, 6' 165 lbs (strong like gorilla...jk nimble tho...haha)

Re: Thanks for advice
08 wont change how it rides/handles
if you drive the crap out of it YOU might enjoy it! I'm 34 and plan on riding mine for a couple more seasons.
once you start fixing/improving its a money pit however

Keep that skidoo one of the best motors they made. That sled has many more miles in it.

08 no problems compared to 07. You might get tired of it but it's a peppy little bugger. My wife has had hers for 6 years and she wouldn't trade it for any other sled. Thank god after all the mods I've done to it, lol
