Have an 06 gt with simmons flex and six inch bars. Toe out set at an 1/8 inch. Some slop in steering but less than what I had last year on my er with 5.7 pilots. Riding icy hard pack trails this week, the type where nothing but the carbides touch. To say it was a handful with the darting would be an understatement at best. Anyone experience and or cure this short of changing skis.

I tried/installed a pair of gen 3's on a phazer last week. they were unbelievable. I have gen 1's on my xtx. frozen trails can be a handfull, especially with new carbides. but most skis will dart on frozen trail anyways. the only real cure is to loosen the front springs way up and go slower. or have a beer and wait for snow to soften

loosen front shock springs...set transfer rod about halfway more towards full from wherever you are set at now..loosen the mono shock adjuster more to taste ....

Any ski will dart when riding on the frozen concrete snow (former slushy snow that froze solid). That and sheer ice are all we have left right now, otherwise we are down to the dirt.

Also Simmons have a tendency to magnify steering slop in some sleds. OFT's kit will help this alot.

;)!

I know that is why I was comparing to my er with the pilots, very minor darting in same conditions. Will experiment. Thanks for the input.

I will tell you..Have tryed others before..And then went back to the best setup i found..Stock ski with"snow trackers". ...IMO

What you are describing is the one condition the simmons dont work well in. I've used them for a long time on several sleds. They are great on anything except ice

You have to shim them!!!
Take a look at your carbide and make sure they are wearing 60 to the back and 40 to the front. The soft rubber mounts also make them hard to shim. All you have to do is take your ski off and look at them. If you are ok you will no.

Even shimmed they'll hop around/ dart on frozen concrete snow. This is the one place they will dart. But of course, most all skis will in these conditions.

I will tell ya what, carbides can make a sled that never darted on hard pack, now dart, its not just the ski,but the type of carbide you have, and i found that the shaper bars for what ever reason dart the worst,ya they bite hard, but also cause alot more darting,i just took a set off,and now have 8" woodys on just old round host bars,on stock POS yammi skis, and toe out set to 1/4 and no darting,on either ice or hard pack.

I've always shimmed my simmons as well. Again, they are awesome just not on ice.
