Has anyone else used the Simmon's gen III skis on their short track nytro. I like the design of having the smaller and larger carbide but have seen no reviews on them for a short track. I need more ski lift in the powder because the narrow skis always sink, and eventually build snow up under the sled cause the rear end to bury. But also like the dual carbides as far as darting goes and how it forces snow between the two keels.
Want to know how these perform on and off trail on the short tracks? Is the steering much heavier than stock?
And I also know that a longer track will help with my offtrail combined with the skis but our stock track is still looking brand new and is not ready to be replaced.

Any one have any experience with these?
I have the Gen 1 on my XTX. I love em. Also have a set of Gen II with the outside edge cut off, haven't tried them yet. Over on snow west all the guys that have the Gen III love them.

Have you experienced any heavy steering with the skis? I really like the way my sled is setup currently as I can turn it by only using two fingers on the hooks while riding, they move easily and allow me to ride longer. I know they probably won't be as easy to turn as the stockers since simmons are wider and have two keels.
When pricing them out I was going to opt for the 6" carbide option instead of stock 4". Because I currently have 6" duals on my stockers.

No, they are easy to turn, plus they float great.

I've ridden at least 4 sleds with simmons skis and they all turned very easily.
The carbides that simmons sends with the skis are stupid. I wouldn't order them. At least in my experience, the actually simmons brand carbides are garbage. They have all the carbide at the very back, instead of centered under the spindle. And they were a 3/8" bar, instead of 1/2".
Maybe they've changed since I ordered a set, it was a couple years ago.
I'd look to the aftermarket for carbides, I've found great deals online

Steering efford is much harder.... I have them on my 40th apex, my riding partner had the gen1, and genIII's on his xtx... on icey crust, or thru parking lots, they can be very twitchy and alomost scary at higner speeds... but on the trail, or loose snow they are great!!!! love them... they will bring front end of sled up in powder.. this is what they are designed to do... and as above, look for aftermarket carbides... simmons charges top $$ for a middle of the road carbide..

The only problem with buying aftermarket carbides for them is that on the gen 3 has the shorter carbide and I have only seen the shorter carbide from them. I would probably upgrade the stock carbides when they are worn as this year we will be buying two pairs of skis (simmons for nytro, and powder pros for a crossfire we will be picking up).

Same here. I have found no good deals on them. Would also like to see them in person but one of my local dealers only has the gen 1's in stock. Cheapest I have found is right around 420 dollars.
You use to se a lot of simmons dealers but the last 2 years they seem to disapeer.

Just Simmons themselves and Sure Trac, LLC on the east coast.
But seriously, aftermarket skis rarely are on sale. Slydog, C&A, Simmons -- unless you are at Haydays you mostly pay their asking price, is my experience.
Just call up Hope at Simmons (435-752-4951), she'll hook you up and get your Gen III's on your way to you. Heck, I just spoke to her this morning, no joke!

theres 2 dealers in my area. one I have an account with, called them in the dead of riding season and had them order gen 3s for my customers phazer. A week later after customer calls daily, I call the dealer. he says "oh ya, what carbides did you want again?" so it took another week. not impressed. did like the skis though. went to the other dealer listed for some machine work for the club. made a bunch of excuses he couldn't help his own club, threw the parts back in the truck. decided to quiz him up on the skis. knows nothing of them, no idea there was a gen 3. appearently only ever bought a couple pair for buddies. so since I know I would sell some and would gladly stock some, put a dealer ap in. persistantly called "Hope" for months and they couldn't be bothered to even reply to me. so long story short, have less than no use for "Hope". actually irritated enough to skip their skis all together. my business is half assed, but there's is not any better. I just really liked those gen 3's and am ready to ditch my gen 1s after realizing how brutal they were in frozen spring riding. thought about 6.9 pilots, but dont want to give doo money. thought about curves, but pricy and swore I would never go back to single keel. thought about split rails, but $800? and they are skinny too. I really dont know what to do. haven't spent a nickel on sleds this year and really want to. if I cant make up my mind soon I may just put lawn tractor wheels on it!!!
