I just installed a set of Gen II skis on my 08 Nytro. From first-hand experience can any of you answer:
- Does the width negatively affect counter-steering?
- Do the wide skis make it harder to push the sled back up after it's been tipped over?
- Do they make side-hilling more difficult?
They look so damn wide that I am a bit worried that the negatives might out weigh the positives. (and, yes, I should have more important things to worry about).
Thoughts???

1. They do affect countersteer a little nit
2. slightly
3. Depends on how sound your technique is
There is a mod I've seen on Snowest where you cut about 6 to 8" off of the outer rear part of the ski which would really improve 1 and 3

The stock mountain ski is +/-7 inches wide and the Simmons Gen II ski is roughly +/- 10 inches wide. So in reality we are really only talking about 1 1/2 inches wider of a ski since the spindle mount is more or less in the center of both skies. I think it is more psychological then anything becasue they do look big
the only area that i found that they made things a little more difficult was maneuvering at slow speeds on packed snow becasue of the two keel design .
I am happy with mine and think they made a positive improvement to my sled.

Had them on my Turbo Apex, and they really helped on that sled. It really like to pull straight though... With that being said, I think Ill be buying Powderhounds this time around if I buy skis..

I have been obsessing about the possible minor negatives to the Simmons GenII skis – counter steering and side-hilling.
My skill level is getting there but at this point I am looking for every advantage I can find.
This mod picture was posted on one of the Snow West forums. It seems like the way to go.
I was hoping to get some feedback prior to pulling out the cutting tools.
