I thought I'd update the thread from November \ December on how the 05 RX1 worked with this kit on.

Winter is still non existent in NS - the first complete write off in my lifetime that I am aware of.

However, I just got back from an 1122 mile, 6 day trip from Pt. a la Croix, Gaspe region Quebec ( about 4.5 hours north by truck from my home), across the ferry from Matane to Godbout, then west and north to Mont Valin, around the bottom of the Lac St. Jean region down to the Saguenay fiord and back east to Baie Comeau, back on the ferry and back to the truck the way we came.

Conditions were excellent, plenty of snow, temps from -26C to a high of -7C.

The RX1 started up without problem despite the bitter cold and with the exception of one morning ran perfectly. One very cold morning I trailed another machine too closely and sucked the filters full of snow dust. They froze and the machine would not pull any RPMs. I let it idle till 210 degrees on the gauge, shut it off and let it sit. The heat from the engine unthawed the filters completely, I put a bottle of de-icer in and we were back in business. Needless to say I didn't follow closely again. I think the pre-filters might be the way to go (they come with the ECP kit).

The overall power and corner to corner acceleration with the filters and Matt's clutch set up is great. It does everything everyone on here says it does. Several of the young guys with us on Revs found out the old guy can still overpower them through the twisties and leave them literally miles back on the long straights.

The trail performance is right there with the 05 Mach Z and the 06 900 Fusion. However, it will not run with the Mach Z on the top end - question anyone who says they can. I've driven plenty of fast stuff and the Mach Z is downright scary. An experienced friend of mine drove it for a couple of miles and traded back as he nearly went over backwards on a small rise with a little too much throttle.

Fuel mileage was off 2-3 mpg from a similar trip last year +/- 13 to 14 mpg only. The Mach Z got the same or better mileage ( 220lb rider vs 175lb however). The evac did'nt freeze and it burned zero oil despite many WFO bursts and off trail blasts through powder we'd kill for in NS.

Overall the Supertune kit as delivered from The Speedshop is good value for the money IMO.

I would be interested to know what other people are seeing for objective numbers. I have only seen 105 mph on radar top end and just yesterday on what pathetic little bit of ice we have here I had a best 660' run of 86 mph on the gun.

Just an after thought but the stinking RA cable ( the new version ) has broken again - what is the solution to this?? are the 06's having as much trouble?

Supertune

I got the Supertune Kit from Matt as well. It took me awhile to get it set up right and had some growing pains (mostly self-inflicted) with it. I agree, bottom end and mid-range is probably day and night difference (improvement) from stock. I have ridden in many conditions this year and have sucked my share of snow dust (even on below zero days) and (knock on wood) did not have any troubles to speak of. I was also considering pre-filters, but my concerns have not shown to be evident. The only thing I am disappointed with (but maybe it was an unrealistic expectation on my part) was that I haven't seen an increase in top-end. Maybe it's just been conditions (although I've ridden in such a variety, I don't think that's been the issue), but I have not seen the top speed increase and almost seems to have decreased. Last year (stock) I had seen 124 on the dream meter. This year I think the highest has been 114. Mind you I've driven hard pack trails and on the lake. Yesterday best I could get was 104. I have also beaten a few F-cats (including a friend's), but this year he passed me on the top a couple of times. I don't know what to think about that. The only other things I can think of that may have caused this is suspension adjustment (softer up front, stiffer on the back spring) and weight gain. Gas mileage is still as good or better than most of the others I am riding with. Again, out of the hole and mid range is great. Oh, and with the sound from the filters, it sounds great too.

There will be NO increase in top end. The kit I have does as Freddie says it does. I have the ECP kit and can only say that the two kits are realitively the same. Increase in both the bottom end and midrange is alot over stock. An 03-04 better have the weight transfer set right if you want to beat an 05. As far as fast mine has run 108-110 mph on a gun. I might be able to squeeze a little more but I have to bring my revs up. I think mine likes to rev about 10,5-10,6 for best results.

As for top speed a set up Mach Z 05-06 will absolutely blows the doors off me top end. They don't seem to have a lot out of the hole but around 60mph it just lights up. I rode a buds 06 and it's bone stock with dealer updates and it put a smile on my face every time I wacked the throttle. That thing seems to have endless power. Fuel milage was within pennies. Just the rideing position was difficult to get used too.

I think that some of the reported speeds that people are getting out of thier RX's are more wishfull thinking that anything. There are a couple of people that are getting good numbers with STOCK components but thats it.

This is just my $0.02 :rocks:
