congratulations to racers edge and john pauk for their big win at the big iron shoot-out at fairveiw utah, john called me just 2 weeks ago and ordered a rx-1 lake race turbo and engine combo, john told me they were going to race at the big iron shoot-out and needed some monster hp fast!!! he just had received the engine and turbo kit last week and had very little tuning time on it. but the efforts of his team really paid off !!! ;)! johns 450+ hp rx-1 turbo really put a hurting on the big 1800 cc two strokes that have dominated the race in past years. usually they (a large 2 stroke engine manufacturer) give out a huge trophy to the winner... for some reason they decided not to do it this year... go figure, lol. :flag: four strokes are our future, the power and durability they can deliever is incredible. and with the new fuel injected apex line up, things just keep getting better :4STroke: jeff

The fastest runs of the day looked like they were done by the two big two strokes on Nitrous. But they only had one good run each The Racers Edge turbo beat Blacks triple because the triple threw a weight right through the clutch cover. The bl;acks mod lost the crank and 30mph track speed on that run. The Racers edge sled was very fast but Im not sure it was faster than the triples on Nitrous when they ran fast. The Rx1's came out on top because everything else blew up in one way or another.

All the more reason guys are switching to 4 stroke power. 2 strokes are a dying breed in many forms of big HP racing...BBY

freak, racers edge and john pauk weren't showing all the power the sled has, they were using what they needed to win each race on a individual basis, think what you want, a win is a win, but if you show everthing you have, your just putting a target on your back. jeff

Jeff Im not thinking what I want. I was there. I say Racers edge won because they held it together, although they wouldnt race me at the end of the day because they said they damaged their compressor wheel. Im not complaining, I had my chance to get them earlier and couldnt. They were fast no doubt. But ask anyone who saw the two big nitrous tiples run and see what they say about who put the fastest run on the mtn. It would have been nice if RE would have had the turbo out and running in that race.

450 hp...wow. That is quite the feat to be able to build a sled in two weeks with that much hp and then be able to get all of it to the snow with out blowing it up. He must have been running 25+ psi of boost. Did he do all of his set up on a track dyno? Tell us some more about that sled.

Hey Freak, you mentioned on Snowest that you had a little mishap. What was that about?

Acording to Racers Edge they were running a big bored motor at 16lbs. Dont think they ran it up to 25 but who knows, they are certainly the type that will tell you what they want you to beleive. Either way it was one bad RXT.

slacker, we have been improving our rx-1 race turbo/engine combo's over this winter, (we currently hold the world record, and want to keep it that way.) btw, this engine is not a big bore. but there is alot of work done to make the power. it was fortunate that i had all the parts on the shelf to build an engine when john called. (they were going to be for me, but went to a good cause) the sled was only running 18 lbs of boost, but was so efficent it was out performing others running much higher boost. it is capable of 24 lbs max boost, so theres more as he needs it. jeff

Where's the limit on hp? You guys are running these things really hard and they are still holding up. Before you know it, we are going to have a ton of hp but we are going to be back to two stroke reliability. But what the hay, if I can get 300+ hp with better reliability than I could get with piped 800 rmk, I'll take it.

The older guy from Racers Edge told me the turbo was big bored.

There were others running more than 18? Who? I was the only other one I know of running fairly high boost. I ran 16lbs most of the day and at the end of the day got it up to 20lbs. I went to ask Racers edge for a race but they said no and that I would have to come to Canada to race them because they had damaged their turbo. Its kinda funny that these guys win the shootout based on the other guys breaking down yet they claimed to be broken down as well. It didnt really matter because my suspension couldnt handle the power I was producing so I couldnt have given them a good race anyways.

freak, do you have a problem with john or racers edge? your posts almost seem as if your alittle bitter. the best thing to do is have your sled ready for the next race as we did, and let your sled do the talking for you as we did, then you can listen to all the excuses on why you shouldn't have won...., or why it is so unfair that your allowed to run... johns/racers edge rx-1 turbo won....period. end of story.....if nothing else be glad a yamaha won... i built the engine for john pauk, racers edge didn't know what was done to the engine at the time, if they told you it was a big bore, they were mistaken, they know what was done to it now, and i will be working on one for them, but i guaranteee you its not a big bore. however i do have a set of big bore cases in stock for anyone looking for a set, i will sell them for 1200.00 us. i talked to john and he said if your the guy with the big bottle of nos on your tunnel, he did race you accouple of times during the day, in the final he said he was lined up with the big two strokes and he took the win, it will be on mod mania 3 video, and you can even catch the interveiw they did with john and racersedge. a piece of something went through his turbo and broke three blades off the impeller, he didn't want to take a chance on wrecking the engine by running it further if the impeller exploded. i don't think that belongs in the broken down catagory, just the lets not wreck our motor by having to over prove our point catagory. jeff
