Since tracks seem to be the new trend??? PICTURES

The only condition were the maverick shines is hard spring snow, it hooks up great. It does not compare to the 2.5 extreme or the attack 20 in the powder. Not that it is terrible, it works OK for a cross over do it all track.
The big problem is the track doesn't last, they all shed paddles bad!!!!!!!
RX1 with tunnel extensions also hit on the aluminum bracket same as on the Apex but the challenger tracks don't shed paddles . :o|

153 rails on the way!

Well, I ordered the 153 rails in for the M7 skid today at the dealer! Should be here in a week or so. I will order the hyperfaxes for it when I get home today and the tunnel extension from Hartman Monday. Frostbite.....you think I should get the 159" or 162" extension??? I'm thinking the 159 might be enough. So.........now it's time to get a track coming! My dillema here is clearance. Obviously I want a 16"x162x2.5 but not sure I can have my cake and eat it too though! Looking at my sled I don't see any way the 16" is going to squeeze between the rear mounts. The 15" is really close already. I did read also Lee that the 2.5" lugs are hitting up front around the drivers and so what should I get?? I want an aggresive bite. We all know we have the horsepower to turn it and I'm not worried to much about heat issues going bigger lug. Looks like I might be 15" wide with 3"pitch huh? I guess just not sure what type. Any advice? Thanks!

Aaron

Sorry to get off topic Aaron, but do you currently have hyperfaxes on your 141? My sliders are a mess with the ProA even with scratchers. Just wondering if the M7 skid is hard on slides also.

I will have the Maverick on my RXM for my last trip of the year, can't wait to try it. Concerned a bit about the paddles after reading some of the posts, I thought most of the problems were with the Apex Mtn and ripping on exhaust mount bracket?
RX1MPete - I put new hyfax on my M7 skid this year and have little wear, I had no front idlers just scratchers early in the season and only wore at bend at front of rails. Other than that, they still look great!

Aaron, they make a 2.313 paddle also. #9979 is what I ended up with, 162x16x2.3 but that was mostly because it was cheap. I ended up getting some Vanamberg drop brackets that are about 1/8" thick. Hopefully they will be strong enough. Plenty of people seem to be running the 16" tracks in stock tunnels, and width is going to add more surface area than length increase. I bet you would regret not going 162 in the long run, there is only 1# difference in track weight between 159-162.

Anybody know how much weight can be safely removed by drilling the track? The larger Camo extremes are among the heaviest.

Let me know what the tunnel extension ends up costing, I can't figure it out from the Hartman website. It looks like the prices quoted include the rail extensions.

Ewwww, just looked more closely at your pics, and did a little measuring on my skid. It looks like its the SKID drop brackets that may be the limiting width factor eh? Alarger top wheel would solve that but create the other obvious issue. Now what, a custom longer axle?

Doo_man, do you have a 16" wide Maverick on an M7 skid?

Sure glad I've got you guys to figure this stuff out before I dig into it ;^)

I guess I should have explained a little better. The bottom picture above shows Frostbite the clearance between the track and the skid mount from a phone conversation we had earlier. If you look at the picture close you can see that a 1/2" wider track would rub on the mount. Not sure if I can run a 16" w/o issues. As far as the sliders go Pete, They don't show any wear but I am putting the hiperfaxes ($160) on the new 153" rails since I am going to a deeper lug. Mark, the tunnel extensions alone are $210.

Aaron, it was really nice talking to you last night! I'm sure glad you are doing these mods so I can learn from your experiences. That's what's so great about this forum. You learned a lot from the crew on here and now we are learning from you.

I see what you mean about the track not clearing the little arm looking gizzys near the drop down brackets. Something doesn't look right. I need to go out into my trailer and look at mine.

I love your single pipe. If Trxster decides not to sell his I will take you up on your offer (after I score a stock exhaust crossover).

I sure am curious if you could get a 156" track to tighten up with your existing setup. If you are right at the minimum for track adjustment I wonder if there is enough adjustment to allow a longer track without any changes? This is for my knowledge because I want to go a little longer but not all the way to a 162". I do want to go to a 16" track though.

I would like to see a picture of the back of your seat without the stock exhaust. I wonder if Aaron Excell would sell the side close out panels individually? Then we'd just have to figure out what to do on the rear.

Lee, there is a picture of the rear seat over on the "Thunder Jet" thread. Would really like to talk to someone running a 16" on a M7 skid! If my wheels were 1/2" bigger it would work. I think the 156" would work fine, because it would equate to only a couple inches back there. Not sure on a new track that will strech some? Let me know on the pipe. Good visiting with you also!

Looking back, here are some pics of a 16" Maverick on a 1M 151 skid. This skid is virtually identical to an M7, particularly in the rear. Looks like the skid bracket leans forward enough that the track rides over top of it. Could possibly rotate the bracket forward one more notch on the hexagonal shaft, then go with a lower tunnel bracket hole???
Could be the skid bracket on the 1M is shorter than on an M7.

Well someday, I will find out through trial, and error...

Doo_man, do you have a 16" wide Maverick on an M7 skid?

No, will have 16" wide on 162" apex skid and apex tunnel. I did some rough measurements and I thought it was do-able but opted for longer. The only real issues I found was chaincase bolts, and drop down brackets had to be fastened from the inside (tunnel) out. So no fasteners would stick out on inside of tunnel. I had 1/4" alum bent with 1/4" offset so the M7 skid fit perfect but also allows a little extra room if you went to wider track.

Good find Mark! I just went out and looked at mine and they are about the same 45 degrees or so. If you went one more flat forward on the shaft it would be horizontal.

Dooman, I see you have Fox Zero Pros on your rear skid as well. Could you please tell me how many turns your locking ring on the front shock is out from fully seated on the bottom of the shock? I think I'm about 2 turns from seated.
Actually so far I like the Ryde shocks better but hopefully I can get the Zero Pros dialed in where they work even better than the Rydes.

Thanks

Frosty
