I was out with the turbo today, first time this season. Well I didn't get too far before I had to return home. I did ride it slow for a mile and when I got to the river I would open the throttle a bit, but hey, nothing happened when giving it some throttle ?????? When riding slow giving it WOT it acts like TORS is activating at 5000 rpms, it runs just fine below 5000 rpms. I tried to ease into the throttle but no matter what I did it wouldn't rev past 5000 rpms.

Throttle free play is ok. I have Holtzman green springs in, worked great last year. Leaky plastic carb covers replaced with STM billet ones. Did a test on the TORS, it activates at 2800 rpms like it should. Noticed arcing from one of the coils upon top of the valve train cover, enough to be visable in daylight. After sitting 5-10 minutes sled is hard to start, I have to crank it a lot at WOT before it starts. Sled starts real easy when cold at -15C.

Takk kaj, men det e nok ikke d som e galt. Velkommen til TY4Stroke.
(Norwegian that is)

It ran great last year, haven't opened the motor since either.

I would bypass the tors to be sure thats not the problem, you can hook it back up once you eleminate it if you want, carb boots haven,t blown off have they that will act the same, make sure waste gate arm hasn,t come loose had that happen once, won,t biuld boost if that happens and won,t pull rpm.

Check the ohm reading on your stator and pick up coil. If you have a service manual, it's in section 8-2. Do you have a wide band o2? is it going lean on you or rich or no change?

My coils are arcing like crazy. I've got all 4 replaced under warranty, will have them soon.

Put in 4 new spark plugs today. Old ones are greyish looking on the tip, all of them looks exactly the same. Haven't got a chance to ride it yet.

I will try bypassing TORS. I haven't been into boost since the carbs and IC was installed. I did install the mountain carb float bowl utdate this summer. I did shorten the actuator arm 3 turns to raise base boost level from 10 lbs to 12 lbs, not tested yet won't run. At 4000 rpms boost meter reads between 5 to 10 HPC of vacuum, at 5000 rpms it read 2 HPC of vacuum so it seems like it is starting to build boost, but it won't rev higher :-(

I have the manual, but no WBO2. Jetting are 17.5 pilots, pilot screws 2 turns out, needles in 3 position, green holtzman springs, 140 mains. Will try giving it chocke to see if it will rev higher. I will check on the stator as well. Thought I read someplace that if the stator is not delivering enough juice the ecu jumps into limp mode, have not been able to verify that yet.

Thanks for your input guys

Did some troubleshooting today. Changed spark plugs, old have large grooves in them, in goes new spark plugs, will not rev past 5000 rpms. Changed the green springs for the stock ones, not that either. Swapped coils with my '05 RX-1, not working. Bypassed TORS, didn't work. Ran with TORS disconnected but not bypassed, same thing.

I will check my electrical system, better let my dealer take care of that.

Kaj you're maybe onto something. I will check that also. I have a slotted intake cam sproket, what will happen if it has moved in the slot? It should retard the intake cam timing, but what would happen?

I have 2 head gaskets stacked, cam sprocket is slotted to work with 3 stock head gaskets stacked.

I'm sure you have probably checked this out all ready but I'll mention it just for fun... Are you sure the intercooler hasn't come loose?

Sled won't rev past 5000 rpms - Problem solved

Thank you all for your input, it's much appreciated.

Problem solved.

I'm a little embarrassed to tell what it was, but I will anyway. I do admit I made a huge mistake on assembly. Here is how I found the the culprit. After some thinking I decided to go with my friends advice on replacing the battery with another I had available. When everything was out I did check throttle slide operation, BOV operation, TORS, cable free play, and everything checked out perfect. Prior to installing the IC I did check that no debris or dirt had entered the IC when it was off, and what do I see???? a cotton rag inside the IC is blocking the supply of air to the engine, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHHH #$%&* :o| :o| :o| #$%&* :ORC . I can still hear my friends laughter, and they really let me have it and rubbed it in hard.

Well after all it was an inexpensive solution to the problem :bling HAHAHA and an easy fix, remove the rag. Now she runs great again, I've only got a mile on her this evening but there is no doubt she is well again. :tg:

Thanks

Still embarrassed, cotton rag inside IC, duh how did that happen?

Sh!t happens, look at the things that are left inside the human body after operations man, good thing your not a doctor, or are you, lol!!!!

No I'm not, LOL, I'm a computer tech/network administrator HAHAHAHA maybe I'm a computer doctor tho LOL.

Gald you got her! I was thinking down the road of some thing was blocking the air from getting to the motor like a froze turbo but a rag will do it and is much less $.
