Do you have to drop your suspension to change your slides or will they pull out through the window of the track?

If you put on the DuPont slides they last so long that you have to ask the suspension removal question again because you can't remember how you changed them last time!

Much less drag too!

NOPE ive done hundreds of them. I had a 2003 rx with a bender mono shock conversion kit that would eat them in 300 miles I could change them in 10 minutes on the trail. lay the sled on its side get one started burp the throttle and off they come. They will be curled like a pretzel but they are junk anyway. I used to do them with a screw driver through the front window to get them started out the front window but hit the throttle too hard and almost took my leg off with the screwdriver passing me at 100 mph:o|

JUst jack the track off the ground get them started through the back track window about 3" then fire it up and put in reverse and bingo they are off.
That's how I always did my apex. Sooo much easier then banging that whole thing off. Just remember you only need just enough throttle to spin the track 1/2 a rotation.

I trim one window on each side been doing this since 2002 I trim it and corderise the cut. My Apex changed the track at 10,000 miles. I take dull wood chisel nock the slide out a couple of inches grab it with vice gripes and pull them right off but first I spray them with WD40. The WD40 also helps when wiping the rail off. If the slides won’t come of I spin the track also but I use a pry bar. The DuPont slides are a little bigger than the original; but so far I have 800 to 900 miles on them and they look great. I was told if I don’t have to put this sled on it side don’t.
I would like to know if anybody has?
.

If you put your Viper on the side put it on the LEFT side per the service manual.

Thanks test but I would think that would make the oil run out of the tank, left side sitting on machine.

Right side makes oil flow out the vent unless you have an aftermarket rollover valve. That is why the manual is specific about rolling the sled left to service the suspension.

Personally, I use a sled lift when I have normal service to perform. Most of the newer ones will lift 31 inches which is plenty high for any work I am performing.
