Slide wear and sticky. Solution is to replace the Ripsaw?

No success with the SLP antiwear pads and loose tension. Is there a successful cure other than simply replacing it with a 1"inch lug fully clipped Predator? I just want peace of mind in marginal snow condition and no sticky track. I bought a sled(05 rx-1 and 05 Vector), not a cow!

You have the wider hyfax, right?

If so that seems to be a problem with other 05's also, some have talked about going to the narrower style if possible. The hyfax on my 04 Warrior has lasted longer than any other sled that I have ever owned, it has over 3700 miles on it and it is still good to go.

The slides do wear down quickly at first on the 05 RX-1.

After they are about 1/2 worn the wear really slows down. Mine were about 1/2 worn out at about 1000 kms. Now at 3300 kms there is very little extra wear.

More recently (with all of the rain we had) I've been running in poor snow conditions. The sliders still get hot without snow to cool them, but they still haven't worn much.

I figure at this rate I should get lots of miles out of them.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT WEAR DOWN TO THE LINE, YOU STILL HAVE ABOUT AN 1/8 INCH LEFT.

ON MY 2003 RX-1 I IT HAD WORN DOWN TO AN 1/8 INCH BY 1000 MILES AND I DID NOT REPLACE THEM TILL 6200 MILES.

ON MY 2005 RX-1 THEY ARE DOWN TO THE SAME 1/8TH INCH IN 1200 MILES AND I EXPECT TO GET 6000 MILES OUT OF THEM. THEN AGAIN I CARRY MY TRACK LOOSE, 1 INCH SPACE BETWEEN TRACK AND HYFAX.
;)!

Just my opinion but for $25 bucks I'll replace them to save me a few hundred if there is a problem. But I'm anal about that crap. Although not like Cubby

Nordik, Just for the hell of it, try running your track tighter and see how much drag you get. I know most people will not agree with that thinking but, if the track is real loose the pressure from the snow causes the closed portion of the track to come in contact with the hyfax. I believe that this might act like a squeegee wiping away any lubricating snow or water. It also causes more drag (friction) which causes heat. The tighter the track (within certain limits) will help hold the closed window portion of the track away from the hyfax. I have even heard of people saying they can hear squeaking from the track rubbing against the hyfax at slow speeds. This is just a theory on my part, and I'm hoping some people will try it and report their findings. You can easily adjust the tension out in the field, and touching the clips will tell you how hot they're getting. You can even run the sled over the same course to remove snow conditions as a variable. I don't believe the rear hyfax wear that some people are experiencing is caused by too tight a track, that would cause wear in front by the bend, I believe it caused by lack of lubrication and cooling.

Roadrunner, your theory is logical. And it might be a factor why the pads didn't worked. My friend's running with a tighter track and is experiencing also hyfax wear, as every one I know with 05 models.
Today, I opened the closed windows and tightened the track. It felt better but at high speed, still have hyfax dust on the slides and loosing top speed. Next step would be to change hyfax with narrower ones. As a matter of fact, the track on the pantera I had was exactly like that (no closed windows), except for 1" lugs. But I probably will switch my track before for a 1inch fully clip predator. I think 1.25 inches lugs is too high for hyfax cooling and for performance(high speed).

Did anyone change his track on a 05 and was pleased with result?
