Wow, didn't expect this! Walched all videos, read all relevant posts and never saw it mentioned that the oil filter hole/ starter access is so much smaller on a 2013 RS Venture!?! Is it even possible to get the starter out through this small access? All others seem to have an opening all the way across the back. First pic is mine, second all other youtube videos/
Maybe I have to drill out all base plate rivits or something?
Anyone with experience, please chime in!! Thank you

Never replaced mine but what I've read is that you have to unbolt the mounts and tilt the engine. My 2010 also has that smaller filter access hole and likely you will have to remove the whole bottom plate.
Checked the manual and it says to remove the whole engine. Yeah, it's tight in there.
Not sure if you saw these threads but they have good details:

Just be sure it's actually the starter motor itself that's bad and not the relay (solenoid), battery or switch. It would just suck if you replaced the starter and it turns out to be something else.

Anyone change their starter ? Looked at small cover underneath belly pan see filter but no starter
Where is it even located ? Front of motor, rear ?
Parts breakdown doesnt show where mounted
Getting power out of start solinoid wire that goes to starter but it doesnt make anykind of noise at all
thanks

Hello All,
Wanted to share, as your posts and pictures have been immensely helpful. Here's the situation:
- End of season ride, shut down the machine on the trail, wouldn't do anything to start, grabbed jumper cables, no luck, towed home
- Using multi-meter, confirmed voltage coming from solenoid just fine, appeared to be a short in the starter, by testing with multi-meter at the load post of the starter (after draining oil, removing filter for access to starter)
- Start reading posts, amazed at the size of the job to replace the starter - freak out a couple of times!

Yes, you will want to jump the solenoid to see if your starter motor has seized before trying to change the starter motor itself. Just replaced the starter on my 06 Vector, and the access panel looks totally different than your 13 Venture.
