i kno this should be in the vector forum but i figured more rx-1 guys had them, now i ordered some black lens covers fromsno stuff and i fitted them on and started the sled, well the covers are non-transparent and when i took them off i noticed they were REALLY warm and started melting in the middle, anyother guys have this problem, i brought them back to the dealer to see what to do, should i order a new set for free or just leave them offm thanks guys

I had them on my viper which is the same lights and wattage and no issues at all. Ar eyou running stock bulbs? Shouldn't be that hot just idling.

On a lot of the 2-smokes, when the idle goes down, so does the voltage, and therefore the intensity of the headlights. I don't know if the Viper's like that or not. Point though, is that on the 4-strokes, the headlight intensity is constant, and since there is no WIND at idle, they will build the most heat AT IDLE. Moving pretty fast in the cold will keep plastic hard.

Any dark material will absorb light and make heat out of it. You should NEVER put a dark cover over headlights. Not only do they get HOT, they reduce your ABILITY TO SEE.

Yeah but they look sooo cool LB! I ony used them in the day time obviously. Too much of a PITA now and I actually like the look of the RX headlight as is.

i only use these for day time running and yes they look cool as hell, my firecat has black ones and they have never melted, i just dont get y these ones did

did u order different ones or just not use any lens covers

still havent found replacements i will probably get the same ones and put heat tape on back i think
