OK guys I'm tired of backing onto my rear flap in snow deeper than 4".. I have solved the problem backing out of my shed by putting a shock-cord over the grabrail and hooking onto the flap, this holds it up until I'm out of the shed.. Then I unhook and go.. If I'm on the trail and back up it pushes in and I run over it.. :o| #$%&* Has anyone tried putting the shorter flaps on.. I've heard some talk about overheating issues with this set-up!!!!! I'm tempted to try it.. The way it is now my reverse is a pain to use in real-world trail riding without sucking it in.MM. :ORC

alright u have a lot of options on this idea. u can cut ur existing flap to length. u can use a utility knife or a sciper. i would recommend the sciper if ones available. otherwise u can go to ur yamaha dealer and buy a shorter flap. i'd imagine u'd maybe want to buy a red one to match ur skis and graphics pattern. but what u do is order a short snow flap. if there is snowmobiles in the show room floor check out a viper and an rx1. u'll notice grooves towards the bottom and its almost like an extension. tell him u want a short red(black) whatever color u want-snowflap. now from ur picture it looks like ur riding in some good snow conditions so u shouldnt have to worry bout overheating....unless ur riding at the beginning or end of the season. good luck with ur snowflap

I got so sick of this same problem on my warrior , I put a new rear tunnel extension from mpi on mine ..............It "kicks up " in the rear .

flap flap

Yeah, I destroyed mine too by backing over it. Mighty has a short one on his warrior, but also uses a rear heat exchanger. I asked him about it, and he said he bought the shorter one from his dealer from the accessory catalog. Mine should arrive today and hopefully I won't have heat issues as I don't use the rear exchanger. The length is 12.5" opposed to the 16" stock one.
