I think I read earlier this season that someone put a shorter snow flap on their Attak. I'm wanting to replace my original flap on my Attak with one that may be 1"-2" shorter. If you have the PN# that would be great. Thanks!!!

I did this as well but it might be a problem if you ride in low snow conditions, there won't be enough snow getting caught up on the track to keep the front cooler satisfied. It will all flick out the back.

The 07's have a new more ridgid flap that won't be sucked into your tunnel at high speed and it won't be run over while going backwards either. Just another option for ya! Bill

Ive done it backen up didnt even notice cant read the YAMAHA on the sno-flap anymore tho.

When you back up and start pushing snow, the metal stopper bends in. Then the flap can catch on the track. I rubbed all the lettering off from mine and it is now kinda floppy. I am ordering a new one tomorrow.

I'm not sure the 07 flap is going to be any better.
When you back up in deep snow the snow pushes very hard against the flap.
With the 05/06 flaps we bent the metal support under the flap outwards and upwards a fair bit. The flap eventually droops back down, but now the geometry won't let it grab the track when backing up and the flap still works much better than trimming it so you can back up.
The 07 flap doesn't use the metal support under it so this isn't an option.
Can the 07 flap be lifted up by hand like the 05/06 flap?

The more I look at this snowflap, the more I think it's a problem waiting to happen.
Take a look at the attached picture and the picture above posted by Superman. The flap is basically rigid with no ability to flip up and get out of the way.
What is going to happen the first time you get in deep snow and sink the back end down in it. The flap will bend straight out towards the rear. Since the flap is rigid, the thin aluminum tunnel will be bent.
Also, I'm sure the 1000's of miles with it being impacted with snow and scraping the ground as the suspension cycles will also take it's toll on the flap mounting portion of the tunnel.
What about coming down slowly off a steep snowbank. The old flaps would flip up - this one?
Finally - how do you back up in soft snow? Last season if the snow was deep enough I'd flip the flap up and hold on to it with my hand. This rigid flap will act as a snow plow.
I hope I'm missing something like a hinge or something that can at least allow it to flip outwards...

I agree rex, something has to flex, and its not goign to be the tunnel, well at least thats not what we want.
Im hoping the Yamaha engineers have already thought of these scenarios.
Otherwise, wait until the real reports start coming in, and if theyre bad, then the tried, tested and true flap is going on!
OR, you can notch it right where the flap would pivot over the tunnel edge, letting it move. Kind of liek the old flaps.

Aren't Skidoos newer flap a rigid one also? Are they having problems?
