So is it just my Apex that collects snow in the front nose area in front of airbox or do yours too? pulled the plastic off the top to put registration on and the area in front of airbox (nose area) was all snow and ice. Ideas??? this sled is already heavy enough without carrying around an extra 10lbs of ice on the nose.... :)

Ice and Snow

EXACTLY.....I couldn't agree more! Especially when I see all my 2 smoke buddies with dry engine bays and steaming hot, beautifully smelling Hot Dogger.......OH MY GOD. That is the best, stop for lunch on the summit and pull out steaming shrimp scampi and hot tortilla's with an ice cold beer......Doesn't get any better then that!
NOW....back to the subject.....not sure if a guy could actually close this area off but I'm gonna give it a try with foam tape and some SLP screen material covering the hood vents and side vents to keep the damn powder out....try this first. Also might have to add a couple rubber hood straps to the side of the hood half way down to keep it tight against the body panels and the nose cone. I do have the Ulmer Racing oil filter relocation kit with the oil filter mounted in the nose so the snow and ice keeps it nice and cool which improves the engine life ....minutely.

yep...new project i guess....fixing yamahas engineering...did that on my phazer...hmmmm at least their engines run forever and never leave me stranded...

Foam tape the bottom of your hood where the gap to the bellypan is closest to the hood, and use the rubberized screen over your vents (hardware store) I got my screen at lowes, 10' roll will do about 10 sleds, and my foam tape is from Germany, courtesy of a friend. I have no snow under my hood ever.

this will help keep snow out
step 1 buy a box of wine
step 2 drink all the wine
step 3 use the bag from the box to take up space in the nose. this works not too bad and air is lighter than snow

I use black womens nylon, stretched out over all the vents it allows all air to pass through and it gives the sled a cooler look with blacked out vents

I have a blond Girlfriend will these nylons work as well????????

I did use the foam tape with good results though.

You can keep sandwiches in tinfoil up by the injectors --- nice and warm there. And the Beer goes in the nose-cone to stay cold and water in the seat to keep from freezing. All in all a versatile rig.

cheers...........

gotta know more

gotta see more info on the injector stashing spot? I want to run K&N filters so I can mount a muff pot against the motor under the throttle bodies for heat.....I removed the battery and all the attachments and mounted it in the rear so now I have that big space under the air box I just need the filters so I can get rid of the huge box....LOL. More info on the injector trick! ;)!

You mean like this?...I was wondering the same thing on how to prevent it.

I bought some Flo-Rite mnaterial from SLP and had my wife sew it up to cover the hood and side panel vents....just need deep enough snow to see if it works...
