I just watched all the YouTube videos of Jimmy Blaze throwing it away on his back flip in Duluth and was disturbed by all the people laughing in the background when he wrecked.
The guy free fell from at least 20' up and is lucky he didn't break his back. That isn't something to laugh at.
It doesn't seem like freestyle snowmobiling gets much respect.

In all other forms of freestyle, they judge the competition. I think with snowmobile freestyle, the technology of the machines has only recently caught up to where they are capable of more than just big jumps.
There also don't appear to be that many people involved on snowmobile freestyle, and that may be why you don't see more structure withink the event. What people like Jimmy are doing is awesome, and I hope it draws more people in to it. Maybe then it will appear more "legitimate".

I think the laughter had more to do with the make of his snowmobile (Yamaha) and where it happened (national snocross event) than what he was trying to do. If he was riding anything other than a Yamaha, my guess is that you would not have heard the laughter, especially at that event. The other camps can't wait to see anything that even comes close to failure for Yamaha. JMO.

Good point. didn't really think of that until you said it. But your likely right on that one. Funny thing is the sled is the only thing that did make the full flip. In fact it looked pretty good on it's own.
I can see the adds now, this sled is so agile it can finish a back flip for you! LOL.
Gotta say of the 6 to 8 miles I've put on the wifes Phazer MTX it seems like it is going to be a blast to ride. Love the sound of that thing.

I vote for a legitimate sport , If you have every meet any of these guys in person they are athletes. I met and talked to Jimmy at nelson's this summer, we talked for a while on friday before the show, very nice guy. His phazers are sweet, lots of trick parts. I to was disgusted with the laughter on the clips, if any of the jokesters had half the guts or talent of the guys they would not be giggling!

I also voted for legitimate sport. If it wan't you wouldn't see events like the one listed here in my home town. This will be set up on our 1/2 mile dirt oval used for sprint cars, oval dirtbikes and horse racing; so they should have plenty of run way to make thing intersting.
