Some here tired of Yamaha read this before you bail.

I jumped ship but I still own yamahas. Yamaha is a large company that knows its demographic 48years old with a high income. They are smart they build to the majority.

I just dont fit that ,Im to young . So I bought a XP .

Im very happy with it and yes reliable is a worry but I will report my first mishap.

But I also havet had to modify it either like my Apex to get it to ride right.i.e. headlights, headlight adj, over heating mods, ski mods, reverse mods, front bushings , exhaust gaskets. Stuff that all helped but why did I have to do all these things ?

I hear about all these problems with the other brands but I've actually had more problems with my Yamahas than anyone else in my group. Constant overheating, melted/sticking hyfax, worn out bushings, idler wheels falling off, suspension bolts coming out, etc. The good part is that even with all these problems, I've never had to be towed out. I guess in that sense blowing a motor sucks but how often does that really happen compared to the laundry list of stuff I mentioned? I dunno, maybe it's just my bad luck.

Must be just bad luck. I put bigger wheels and replaced the ex. Gaskets

I ride a 2010 Nytro MTX with a push turbo and it hasn't let me down yet. The big deal is riding my 2 Yamaha exciter 440's at 4000'. They have never been rebuilt just serviced regularly. These sleds are amazing and we have had them in the family since 1981. Mega miles and still snappy little sleds. Longevity=Yamaha

Sounds like a few preride checks would go a long way for the bolt issues. Whenever I stop for any reason I always give her the 30 second look over before I take off, have found many small things that were fixed in 2 minutes that could have caused major issues if I didn't catch them.

I ride her hard and its shows but I fix her up just as I would with any other brand. Funny thing I have yet to touch the engine other than maintince. Shes finally getting loosened now with 4500 or so miles really got some snort for a 600 class. My 2 close riding buddies have a 08 600sdi and a 09 600etec
Both are no competition at any time unless its bare ice cause they are studded and I am not.

Sure they don't like the way my sled handles, but they sure love the giddy up! they are both 40 or so pounds lighter than I and not quite the manhandler you need to be to have fun on this beast! I love the handling bit of ski lift when I want it. Mucho more fun to ride, same deal with the phazer and its handling once you get hang of it so much fun!

Seems to be an every season , all season event for the guys who ride the
doo's and polaris sleds hard. I've watched more than one spend the last
3 seasons with their sleds down half the winter for motors.
