sorry guys but i traded my nytro today and snowchecked a 16' Polaris Pro S Switchback 600. Never thought the day would come when i would't be on a yamaha. i've had yamahas my whole life and i want to try something else. i really like the direction that polaris is going in and i don't want keep waiting for yamaha to maybe build what i want someday. i rode an axys switchback a few weeks ago and fell in love with it. i will still be around and i still have my RX 1. i will always bleed yamaha blue, just one dark horse in the stable. lol

I like the way Polaris evolves their sleds year after year and the Switchback 600 has always been quite highly rated. I just wish Polaris would come out with a great 4 stroke engine... 2 strokes just doesn't do it for me, plus that weird rear suspension doesn't turn my crank either.
Best of luck to you and your new sled. Yamaha is doing a great job at driving away the diehards, aren't they?

Thanks guys. I am really excited to try something different. I am going to miss the Nytro motor though. I have done a lot of research on the 600 polaris motor, very strong and very reliable so we'll see. Wanted to go with the new 800 but that's only been out a yr.

Ya i'm in the same the same situation. I'd like a new yamaha but not keeping the viper after warranty is over. I have had at least 6 Polaris never let me down once. I would prefer new Yamaha 4 stroke and will wait to see what they do next year .If nothing may get the axys800. But I sure would like to keep the Yamaha 4 stroke. They have to do something new if they want to compete in this market. But they can make a heck of a sled but just seems like they won't. Polaris seems to have it together except no 4 strokes.

The rumor for 16' was that polaris was going to put the RZR 1000 motor in a sled with a blower. I guess that was clearly just a rumor. I agree, they need a 4 stroke

You should try a lynx pps rear suspension, its one of the best. But you don't get lynx over seas tho. Lynx is owned by brp but has more rigid frames and suspensions.Nothing rides likes a Polaris rear suspension. I had 6 of them

I did the same. I just sold the Viper and snow checked the 800ho Switchback. I didn't think I would go back to 2-stroke (been on Yamaha since 06) but I test drove the Axys I can really see this being a fun sled. Comes with a 4-yr warranty so I'll have a bit of peace of mind for a 2-3 yrs I'll be on it. I REALLY hope and have my fingers crossed that Yamaha does come out with something new in the next year or two.

i am in the same boat those polaris are sweet and light ! BUT those cfi engine are not to reliable if you are lucky you get around 7000 km out of cfi 800 but most go around 5000 km..... the 600 are known for being more reliable. they are also known for having piston slop really early its seem like polaris quality control isnt the best........my buddy rush 800 flew apart at 4600 km piston skirt broke and drop in the crankcase its wasnt pretty...... i really was into them but from all those horror story on forum and my buddy misfortune and the poor gas millage made me change my mind i sold my zr900 carb and got a nytro xtx 2012 i hope i made the right choice!!!
Gytr. What year is your buddiess sled? They changed the 800 motor 3 times since 2011 and the axis is a complete diffrent motor.I have only heard of one failure this past year on those motors.Heck there was more then that in apex motors that went down the first year.

it was 2013...the new 800 ho isnt so new they simply redesign intake track shave off weight from from crank assembly and use used electronic to actuate power valve and oil pump ok this is nice but the problem is the short skirt piston design!!! that why those engine simply dont last short skirt allow piston slap which wear ring fasssst , score piston, crack skirt and lead to failure and all they did is tefflon coat the piston and groove them ! i am not sold
