I was wondering why I had not heard back from a few people about buying a new sled and then noticed that my messages are in my outbox and not sent.

My sent and outboxes are not full at all , Can anybody help me out as to why,

I think they stay in the outbox until they are read, when they are read I believe they are sent.

what kcusscam is correct when they have been read they will be in your sent box. They sit on the server until they are read then they become sent.
