? SOUND change with turn down exhaust extensions ?

I have read some are using exhaust extension and turn down. Does this decrease the sound experienced by the rider??

I love the sound when revving up or on the stand or for short bursts but it seems to drone on and on in my ears for 200 + miles days.

If you polish the rear bumper with mothers it will turn to chrome.It will look a lot better than dull grey.
