SPARK PLUGS CR9EK?

My stock plugs are CR9E's correct?. I want the Iridium cross ref.#. I was ordering through Dennis Kirk and all their plug #'s start with B. I left the plugs out of the order because I think my local shop has them and I wasn't sure of the part #. Someone could make millions if they had a web site where you could order everything for a sled & get good customer service!

Just another point about plugs, and to knock down a myth. Splitfire plugs, or any other design which uses multiple electrodes, will not get you anything other than more cost when you buy them. The selling point is that there will be a 2 or 4 point spark, depending on the plug (2 or 4 electrodes). The problem with this is that electricity follows the path of least resistance, so there will only be one spark, between the two closest and/or cleanest electrodes. That is the only point which will spark, period. I've been asked "well what about when that electrode gets dirty, won't another take over the spark?" Nope. While pne electrode is being used the others will get normal deposits on them from not being used, and once the original electrode is dirty, the others will be beyond use.

If there is any doubt about this, you can try two tests: hook up a testing station with an ignition and a plug mounted to a fixture. Make it fire over and over, and see if both or just one electrode fires. Another thing you can do is install a set of splitfire plugs and run them a long time. Remove them and check the electrodes. Only one will be clean and shows signs of use, while any others will have deposits like the rest of the plug tip area.

As I said in earlier reply, a colder plug will foul easier or sooner than the right plug.
CR9EIX is the right NGK Iridium part number this is what I run in both my 03 and 04 RX models.
If the sled comes with 9 heat range stick with it.

The only time I have ever gone to a colder plug was in 98 when Cat recommended going from a 9 to a 10 on the ZR 500 due to some problems due to the nature of the engine. The problem with the colder plug is as you say FOULING perhaps it works in a motorcycle but in a sled it often leads to a fouling problem.

The Iridium plug has a lower impedence, it is a harder material, and a finer center electrode. It should be a longer lasting and more foul resistant plug.

I just installed a set of CR9EIX's

Idle seems smoother with instant starting.
