I have read through the post about the spark plug end caps and how to tighten them. At the time I had not been into my sled so I just read the listings. When I changed my plugs I had all kinds of ideas on how to keep them tight but actually they went on pretty tight by them selfs so I just snuged them up real good. But my question is (unless I am missing something) what is the problem here. The boots go on real tight and they are held in with a bolt so how much can they really loosen up. Or are they going to cause damage if the caps come loose.?? Just a question..

the oe sparkplugs and replacments usually have asolid top if you change to a different plug or a performance plug they usually have a threaded stud that a cap threads onto to fit the application that its being installed in the vibrations can causethe cap to unscrew and then you have a couple of problems the cap is stuck in the cap/coil,and a timing problem dueto poor connection to the plug on that cyl possible detonaton especially in two strokes

Its kinda risky, but you can very gently mar the threads on the plug (male threads) just enough to cause some resistance. I carefully laid my threads on the top of my bench vise and very lightly tapped them with a tiny ball-peen hammer. It doesnt take much, but I dont think any type of thread lock would be good for conductivity, so thats what I came up with. Too much and you risk breaking the plug trying to twist the caps on, or not being able to get them on at all, so go easy.
You might also be able to try gently squeezing the cap in a vise to create the same effect.
