Looking at the speed ring from Hi Tech performance, they say it bolts on your primary not sure how, do you need to disassemble the clutch, if so anyone have part # for the break down tool.

Its stupid of them to call it a "speed ring" as it has nothing to do with speed. Better to call it an "overdrive sheave", which is what it actually is.
Look at the hole in the middle of it, notice that its internally threaded... You need to unscrew the original one from the hub and screw the new one in.
Note that this requires two specialized tools;
1) clutch puller,
2) clutch disassembly tool.
Also note that under NO circumstances will this device gain you ANY speed, and by itself it will NOT add any low end or midrange. In order realize any benefit from this requires that you do the following;
1) lower your gearing,
2) overdrive your secondary clutch,
3) adjust drive clutch weights.
If you leave out #1, this will do NOTHING AT ALL. If you install the ring, #2 is absolutely mandatory, otherwise you may find yourself blowing belts. If you leave out #3, you will end up with real bad fuel consumption.

LazyBastard, thanks for the input, not sure what you mean overdrive the secondary clutch, looking for part # for drive clutch disassembly tool, any help would be great.

You need to either put washers under the helix to bump the helix out a little so that the secondary can shift out all the way or you need to get a hi-tech E.R. kit or the paragon. You could also get a custom cut helix from ulmer racing and I think that it would be machined so that you could achieve overdrive. That is how you overdrive the secondary.

There is no "part number". Buy the tool by its NAME and/or DESCRIPTION.polcat said:LazyBastard, thanks for the input, not sure what you mean overdrive the secondary clutch, looking for part # for drive clutch disassembly tool, any help would be great.

What's the hi-tech ER kit do? I thought all they did was shock calibration?

Encapsolated roller. Meaning the roller runs in a slot in the helix vs the edge of the helix. Roller clutches have their good points but can be tricky to tune. I would suggest Turks help if you do it.

Do not buy that Speed Ring. You are in for a on of Head ache's
1. You are only changing the angle on one sheave "bad Idea"
2. if you want the belt to shift to the top of the primary they you need the belt to shift further in the secondary as well.
the Correct way to do it is send your Primary and Secondary out to be Machined for over drive. Bob at Lightning Pro will do that for you

Ulmer right in the vendor section. Does the machine work and has quite possibly the best clutch kits available.
btw you should fill out your location in your profile, that would help for recommendations that are closer to you.
